> Why are Picture Signatures not allowed?
Here is the topic you chose to view
Unlike a great number of forums and message boards, the usage of images in a member's signature is prohibited at Spaced-Out.

This decision arose because the majority of people here felt that the time taken for the pictures to download with each post made by that member caused considerable delay to those who were viewing the forum on dial-up connections, with each thread page taking far too long to open, and that for every member - regardless of connection speed - the threads themselves would appear too tall on the screen.

So, for the sake of your fellow forum members, we would politely urge each member to restrict the content of their signature to text, which might, of course, include links to images or other websites. Members who include images in their signature will be requested by a moderator to remove said images. If the request does not garner a response within 24 hours, the moderators will automatically remove the image.

If you wish to express yourself further in the medium of graphics, there is ample opportunity to delight and bemuse your fellow members by using the avatar and/or profile picture options on your Control Panel. (Although, be aware that there are size restrictions on both of these, for similar reasons to those given above).
