I just had to make this topic. I'm currently deeply in lust with the Silent Hill 2 OST. Not only is it one of the best videogame soundtracks ever made, but it also works amazingly well as a piece of dark electronica. Betrayal is a particular favourite of mine.
It's on Spotify here: http://open.spotify.com/album/5fimXEhjWNDz4VWhHbjldF What are your favourite soundtracks? |

Red Dead Redemption.
Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings Halo (as much as I hate the franchise, the music is amazing) There are loads of great pieces of gaming music, but many of them are singular pieces, rather then sounds tracks. The Battlefield music always stirs a reaction from me. |

The sountrack/score from Gears Of War 2 was pretty great.

Ocarina of Time is my favourite, largely thanks to its association with my childhood. I get all sorts of warm, fuzzy nostalgic feelings every time I hear Soria's song.
I used to be a big fan of the Banjo-Kazooie soundtracks, too, but my last job as a games tester was to play it every day for a month and it kind of drove me insane for a bit. |

Zelda in general (Ocarina of Time being ranked highly). And also the Scott Pilgrim game music.

I also grinned like a complete geek when a couple of pieces from Link To The Past (and also used in Ocarina of Time [/geek] ) were used in the Scott Pilgrim film. |

Halo (as much as I hate the franchise, the music is amazing) Yes! Jet Set Radio Future! Double yes! I'm a sucker for the classics, the Mega Drive era Sonic games are definitely up there for me. Mario too. There's tons though, I listen to game soundtracks all the time so it's kind of hard to pick and choose favorites. |

Obviously Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas have the best soundtrack of any games ever. One is chock full of '80s awesomeness, the other is all early rap, hip-hop and '90s rock. I guess it's technically cheating to class these as part of the discussion since it's not originally composed material, but still merits a mention I think.
Ocarina of Time is my favourite too, especially Gerudo Valley. Awesome music there. Props also to the recent Fallout games which have been lovely and moody, and Bioshock, where the music selection makes the game feel even more lived-in and also creepily innocent at times. |

This is very much worth a look. It's a great series anyway, but this episode is very relevant.

Yes and yes! Both soundtracks add to the steampunk/atompunk atmosphere of each game. And, to be honest, I've even been listening to the Fallout 3 soundtrack separately from playing the game. Damn good music. |

I gotta say the Fallout3 and FalloutNV soundtracks are awesome, FO3 moreso however. I find it quite satisfying to walk into a joint and kill everybody to the strains of "Bingo Bango Bongo I don't wanna leave the Congo oh no no no no noooo..."

I have the soundtrack on my mp3 player. When any of the songs come on a big smile creeps across my face. Then I panic and look for Deathclaws.
