I loved Ace.

But then, I was about 5 at the time and really loved Jason Donovan too. I'm so glad I'm over that now.

I wanted to be Ace so much. I had made my mum make me a tardis birthday cake one year - she was a sport, it took her hours!

I do agree that Ace was over written, but she was still a bit cute. And I found Mel more annoying, but that is really because I CAN'T STAND BONNIE LANGFORD!

If you ignore the accent, the last decent companion the Doctor had was Peri. The last TRUELY decent companion that the Doctor had would be either Romana II or possibly Tegan... (I liked Tegan when she stopped insisting on being returned to earth to be a stewardess...)

Hmmm, Tegan`s a funny one. On one hand, I like the character, she could be funny, and feisty, without the annoyance. On the other hand, Janet Fielding has been such a nasty cow to the show since she left it, it`s hard to watch her without getting riled. It`s not as if she turns down convention cheques, considering she hated being on Doctor Who so much.

Can you be more specific? I'm not familiar with what she's done or said...

She`s basically spent the last 20 years bitching about how her "feminist ideals" go against everything Doctor Who stands for: the screaming young girls, the fact that even a character like Nyssa is less intelligent than the Doctor, and so on, and so forth. For a long time she wouldn`t even have anything to do with the show or it`s members.

That's really weird... Considering that Tegan was actually a strong character and the Doctor had had strong female characters... Leela, Romana, Nyssa, Ace, Liz to name but a few.

And some of the male companions were great... Adric and/or Harry for example...

There's another review of last night on the SFX site.

If you scroll to the bottom there's a few spoilers, one of which gives a description of Simon's appearence. It sounds VERY intriguing! huh.gif

Janet Fielding is one of the few actors/actresses who has refused point blank to take part in the Big Finish audio adventures as well.

There's going to be a special Dr Who Confidential on the night the new series starts on BBC1. So those without freeview can still enjoy Simon's voice after all.

Hi new member here, became a Spaced fan last Saturday when I bought the 3 Disc DVD Boxset from recommendations from other fans.

Anyways, here is the BBC Press Release for Doctor Who, mentioning Simon Pegg: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressrele...ch/10/who.shtml
