QUOTE Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole (2010) Not seen this. I like John Cameron Mitchell movies though. A predictable list but not an unworthy one. Although i wouldn't have predicted Renner. QUOTE John Hawkes for Winter's Bone (2010) This pleases me enormously! And Jennifer Carpenter also deserved. QUOTE No screenplay nom for The Social Network? *rubs eyes* Edit - he is on there. Don't worry! Best Screenplay — Adapted Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy, 127 Hours Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network Michael Arndt, Toy Story 3 Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, True Grit Debra Granik and Anne Roselini, Winter's Bone This post has been edited by Serafina_Pekkala: Jan 25 2011, 02:11 PM |

No SFX nom for Tron. Not that I care.
Would have liked to have seen Clint Mansell get a nod for Black Swan score. Not that I've listened to it yet, I just want to see a member of Pop Will Eat Itself get an Oscar. One day. |

Best Screenplay — Adapted Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy, 127 Hours Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network Michael Arndt, Toy Story 3 Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, True Grit Debra Granik and Anne Roselini, Winter's Bone It was genuinely missing from the listings when announced. I (and they) have now amended accordingly |

Daft Punk snubbed in the Soundtracks! Yeah - it would have been nice. QUOTE Not that I've listened to it yet, I just want to see a member of Pop Will Eat Itself get an Oscar. One day. That would be awesome. It happened to Reznor so possible. Has Devo/Mothersbough been nominated? |

Would have liked to have seen Clint Mansell get a nod for Black Swan score. Not that I've listened to it yet, I just want to see a member of Pop Will Eat Itself get an Oscar. One day. The score was deemed ineligible because most of it is based on pre-existing music (a lot of the pieces are variations on music from Swan Lake) and because their rules regarding scores are stupid (see also; There Will Be Blood.) Very pleased to see Winter's Bone get so many nominations, specifically best picture (which I predicted) and Best Supporting Actor (which I didn't). The nomination for Haillee Steinfeld annoys me. Not because she doesn't deserve it, but because she is clearly the lead in True Grit. It's The Last King of Scotland all over again. This post has been edited by maian: Jan 25 2011, 02:46 PM |

"Adapted Screenplay" becoming "Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published" seems to mean that sequels and spin-offs automatically go under this category - Toy Story 3 this year, In The Loop last year.

Very pleased to see Winter's Bone get so many nominations, specifically best picture (which I predicted) I've yet to see it, but considering the reviews it got at time and the increased number of best pic nominations, I thought this was a no-brainer |
