QUOTE (Jessopjessopjessop @ May 9 2005, 04:26 PM) his accent, inflection and pronounciation actually enhance the material, as if revelling in it, I think - the same way Reeves and Mortimer can make nearly anything sound amusing. in the article they were talking about a scene where three characters were trying to think of 'something that the public want, free', and come up with 'national spare room database, pet asbos' and 'what if everyone had to carry a plastic bag?' and the last one i could just imagine armando saying it and it being funny! |

QUOTE (pots @ May 9 2005, 03:31 PM) One of his finest hours has to be an appearance on the 99p Challenge, when he talks about "Scaring a live duck tied to a spit for two hours, so it looks round in a mirror to see a Geordie sitting on some pasta". |

QUOTE (Hughesie @ May 9 2005, 10:30 AM) It was called ''Gash''. Short-lived is the right phrase for it too. I think it was all over in the space of about four consecutive weeknights. It was rather painful to watch. This post has been edited by rabbit57i: May 9 2005, 04:05 PM |

QUOTE (Jessopjessopjessop @ May 9 2005, 03:30 PM) Yeah that was it. The AI Shows DVD was pulled I think due to licensing issues over music samples used within particular episodes. Because they couldn't clear the samples, and the music was an integral part, it was decided not to release them at all! I read somewhere that it might get released with different music - which would be good. We need it in some form or other. Good to know he hopes to finish his novel by the end of summer. |

QUOTE (wherearethespoons @ May 9 2005, 05:50 PM) I read somewhere that it might get released with different music - which would be good. We need it in some form or other. Yeah, it would be nice. Chris Morris had similar problems at first with the 'Blue Jam' CD. Since the music was an integral part of each sketch, the CD was held up for the same reasons Jessop already mentioned. They replaced certain tracks with (admittedly) poorer choices from the original aired programs, but at least it got an eventual release. I have forgotten a lot, indeed most of the Armando Iannucci shows, but one of the few skits that still rattles round my noggin, is the one with the chairman of the Bristol Water Authority or something: "Okay, I do pay myself rather a high annual wage of £3,000,000, but then I think I deserve it - after all I'm the only one who works here." Or something like that. Totally daft, and utterly hilarious, as I recall. |

I always get very pissed off at Iannucci-cos he's the perpetual winner on the 99p Challenge. That is all.

I speak as I find, and he's always been the funniest at the recordings.
Dunno how it's edited though as I don't usually listen to the actual broadcast. |
