So I finally took the leap into getting a 3D compatible TV/monitor, despite having not seen a single 3D film at the cinema or anything. The inner child in me had been bugging me to get one for ages now but I just didn't want to spend the money. After periodically checking prices every month or so I finally found one for £150 so decided to go for it.
It is only passive, as you might expect for the price tag. But it is also a 1080P IPS monitor so it has a back up use. I am currently just using it with the PS3 and playing some games (Uncharted 3 and Killzone 3). Due to the passive technology you can see the drop in quality, however it was still quite enjoyable. It does have some pretty damn cool moments that make you stop and go 'woah'. But they are certainly not the norm. Has anyone had much hands on experience with both passive and active? I read a few reviews about the differences and whilst it is accepted that active is the better tech, it was more a case that both had different merits and issues and you just had to pick your poison. I am also looking to try a few films in 3D, any recommendations? And what have you experiences been like this far with 3D? Unfussed? Or best thing since sliced bread? I suspect somewhere in-between... (Also, sorry if this is a duplicate thread, the search tool wouldn't let me search as it was under 4 characters long!) |
