And as has been said, toy gun replicas aren't allowed by US law.

(Although mass-shifting can be silly, although acceptable in cartoons and comics.)

They are, it just has to have an orange tip on the end and a sealed barrel to show it's a toy.

And I think Megatrons jet mode has a big cannon on the front, so it's sort of like a gun (though don't quote me on that).

And Bay didn't want him turning into a gun because he thinks it's stupid "like Darth Vader turning into his own lightsaber and a stormtrooper fighting with him", and I can understand where he's coming from really. Okay in cartoons, silly in movies.

It was silly in the cartoon too.

I can understand him being used by Soundwave. Soundwave was Meg's bitch.

But Starscream? I mean, if the Screamer had any sense he could have just trashed ol' Buckethead in gun mode.

To clear up the Megatron/gun thing (spoiler so don't read if you don't want to know):

The alien jet thing he turns into doesn't have a big gun on it, however, when he is in robot form he can join his arms together and, through some very nifty mass-shifting, change them into a fucking massive cannon. So he does have a big gun as part of him, but he doesn't turn into a gun.

i noticed a film named 'transmorphers' had just had a cheapo dvd release in hong kong, with a cover that, like its title, is doing its best to cash in on 'transformers';
