My favourite story of Liz is how Richard Burton fell in love with her at first sight because she gave him a dirty look by the swimming pool at a Hollywood hotel. That must have been some look. I wish mental Hollywood stars were this fun instead of worrying about what they ate and adopting ethnic children. In a story I heard, they were working together for the first time and she hated him. He came in one morning after going on a bender and was in such a state that he couldn't hold the script or drink coffee so she had to help him do these things and fell in love with him. |

I didn't say it was mutual. She needed more incentive. And she was probably married to someone else at the time. |

It's a real testament to her that Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds have made such heartfelt tributes to her.
QUOTE "This was a remarkable woman who led her life to the fullest rather than complacently following one around. She will be missed but never forgotten.
"A devoted mother many times over and even very briefly a stepmother to my brother Todd and myself, loyal to the lifelong friends surrounding her - even with all this she found time to become one of the earliest champions for those living with HIV. "If my father had to divorce my mother for anyone - I'm so grateful that it was Elizabeth. A woman who rarely did things in half measure." |

The Royal Guild of Film Nerds have just called about your membership. National Velvet. Jane Eyre. Ivanhoe. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Suddenly, Last Summer. Cleopatra. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Reflections in a Golden Eye. I Love Lucy episode with the diamond ring. I think you should see them. Yeah, I'm not proud that I haven't seen more of her work. I just, for whatever reason, haven't. I will attempt to rectify this. |

QUOTE (Richard Burton) “She was so extraordinarily beautiful that I nearly laughed out loud. Her body was a true miracle of construction — the work of an engineer of genius. It needed nothing except itself. It was smitten by its own passion. She was unquestionably gorgeous. She was lavish. She was a dark, unyielding largesse. She was, in short, too bloody much.”

Just found out that things might not be as clear cut as they seemed. More here. And everyone should listen to this |

I am so upset about Diana Wynne Jones.
Neil should pay her tribute. He nicked American Gods pretty much from her novel. |
