Anyone have any tips for a reliable place to buy a gaming PC from? Apparently gaming PCs best match the spec we need so that Mink can run programs for work.

It depends on what you want, really. I keep hearing Alienware (made by Dell) are good, but they're a brand name of sorts so you're paying a lot for the label.
I think most people in the market for a gaming PC build their own. I think PC World advertises certain spec machines as gaming machines, and they also have a business website that's cheaper than their stores and regular site. |

I got my current PC from PC World and I'm more than happy with the specs for the price I paid.

As a massive nerd I would recommend building your own. But that's because I'm a massive nerd.

I wouldn't know where to start building my own, Mink might but it's finding the time to do it (he needs it for early September). I have no idea what spec we need, I just thought I'd sound people out on here as I don't have anywhere else to ask! I'll send Mink in the direction of the sites you've recommended, thanks!

I had a friend who built his own computer, and it used cold water flowing around it in tubes to cool it rather than a fan. I always thought that was super cool (no pun intended).

Water cooling is pretty awesome looking, and extremely efficient, but it's a pain in the arse if you ever need to switch out any components, and I've heard some horror stories about people doing things like using straight tapwater or weird dyes in them that caused catastrophic failures.

I'm posting this here rather than the Coming Soon thread, as it's a bit more relevant here.
Coming soon from Disney: Wreck-it Ralph# How awesome does that look? |

Looks cool, though I'm still not a fan of the voices. It worked for me in LEGO Batman 2 because it was like watching a cartoon, it wasn't based on a specific live-action movie. It's hard to explain, perhaps I'll enjoy it more when I play the game. It's not enough to put me off getting it.
New Devil May Cry is weird I can see why people are very upset, but I actually think it's kind of cool. DMC is such a repetitive game anyway, that mixing it up like this is cool. I doubt I'll buy it on release, but it's something I'd like to play. |

I think DMC looks great. I've disliked the series for quite a while and it actually has me interested in it. Ninja Theory are a good studio too.
Wreck it Ralph and the Lego lotr look brills too. |

I think people would be all over the new DMC game if it were a DMC clone and not actually called DMC. Literally just change the title and the player character's names and people would love it, even keep the gameplay exactly the same.
EDIT: Sleeping Dogs. I'm so out of the loop now, I had no idea about this game. GTA: Honk Kong? Of course I want it. This post has been edited by GundamGuy_UK: Aug 15 2012, 01:02 PM |

Thing that annoys me is people who say his new look is emo, When it 's not, it's punk and the old look is better, it's not he looked re-god damned-diculous. It's nice to see something of a breath of fresh air into the franchise. And now him and Virgil don't look like massive ponces, which is a good thing.
I think it looks great and I'm also really happy to see the move away from the same old gothic aesthetic. As that was getting old too. I'll be getting Sleeping Dogs on Friday, it looks great, especially the combat. It's supposed to have a really good story too, which is quite unusual in open world games (of course there are exceptions) This post has been edited by monkeyman: Aug 15 2012, 01:56 PM |

I really want to get it, but I also really can't now. I'll get it next month, no big deal.
By then some of the 50-odd pieces of DLC will be out... |
