I'm sorry, all of the above are complete bollocks, just watch this:
Bring'Em Back Alive. My God, I have tears rolling down my face having watched that! What the hell is that on The Box's top lip?! (And has he shoved a snake down his pants?!!). |

QUOTE (Sostie @ Nov 20 2007, 07:41 PM) And appreciated moreso if you watch it straight after watching Streets Of San Francisco. Fantastic theme. And check out this week's guest star! You should check out the one with Arnold Schwarzenegger in it - a clip nyah. Playing a body builder - what a stretch! But a particularly sensitive one, so some (rather poor) acting required. It's worth the build-up (zing!) for his hissy fit at the end. A great title sequence really needs to get you in the mood for the show. Matt Berry popped up on Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe a few weeks ago discussing the work of Ronnie Hazlehurst and this very issue, viewable here. |

It was a close call between Dr Who and Monkey but I had to go with Monkey in the end. That tune is just so funky.
We sang the Monkey theme in a Karaoke bar in Tokyo with my Aussie friend and her Japanese boyfriend. I think the Japanese wait-persons were quite surprised to see a bunch of gaijin singing that. Good times. |

At least there's a Millennium Falcon indentation remaining on that big central mound...

And Sunday night was Sloane night. Now this is another Brit classic. Recognise the first two cast members anyone? |

(Tales of the Gold Monkey was by far the better program though, I totally agree!). QUOTE Crikey, it's like a hip version of The Chiffy Kids! |

Has to be Monkey. Although I actually prefer shows that don't have opening sequences. Or very short and funky ones, a la Futurama.

So here I was thinking V: The Series had the creepy, slightly Carpenter-esque synth music that I loved in its intro, but no... those titles sucked a smidge.
It was V: The Final Battle I was thinking of. |

Doctor Who, all the way. In 45 years, it's only had 2 bad opening sequences. (McGlynn and McCulloch, I'm looking at you, here.)

QUOTE (Sostie @ Nov 20 2007, 11:33 PM) I was going to mention that one. And of a similar feel is Six Feet Under - classy, great theme, beautiful imagery. I must give special mention to Mike Post and his vast canon of classic themes. Consider: Quantum Leap NYPD Blue LA Law Hill Street Blues The A-Team Muder One. Whoop! |
