It's already the second highest grossing film of all time. But more importantly, the fans are awesome, My classmate tried to say Lucas was better, and i asked him “can you speak ewok, cuz i can learn Na’vi”.

I think I've discovered why I wasn't that fussed about Avatar - The 3D is too good for the film.
It's a testament to the effects that I accepted the giant smurfs as real, and a shame that they had these cool blue people in a fairly dull film. It was still loads better than a lot of the blockbusters this year, just not in my top ten movies of 2009. |

The Phantom Menace guy reviews Avatar It's not as good as the Phantom Menace review but it is only 20 minutes long.

Why is it that Avatar is the only DVD/BluRay in some stores that are not displayed with the disc in the case. Are Avatar fans kleptomaniacs?
The girl in Fopp told me today that it is not selling well at all. So much for the early vanilla release. |

It was a cinema film and I said at the time that I'd never bother buying it on DVD as it would lose the immersiveness that you got in the theatre and the plot is no where near enough to support it on its own. |

BBC news etc says it's broken sales records for DVD/Blu Ray...
http://www.collider.com/2010/04/25/avatar-...irst-four-days/ Though that site is just talking about North America. I'm not going to bother getting it until the extended edition is released. |

Andrew Collings: It doesn't matter if it's in 3D if the characters are all 1D. That's pretty much how I feel - Cameron can't write characters or dialogue for toffee, and it's made even worse here because he has recycled more than one character from one of his previous films. Kicking Avatar for being a poor story though is a bit like chastising a puppy for peeing on the floor. It can't really help what it is, it was supposed to be an effects show case and from that point of view (though I was watching it in 2D) I guess it did it's job, but surely the concept could have been proven with some PIXAR type shorts, and then applied to a decent story when one came along? It did make me laugh on several occasions though, so it can't be all bad. |

Still doesn't make it a good film.
