Actually quite obscure reference, but might be of interest to some.
On the Hot Fuzz commentary Simon mentions David Threlfall's award winning performance as Smike in the 80s RSC's production of The Life And Adventures Of Nicholas Nickleby. The first 4 parts of the televised version were on BBC4 over the weekend and David's performance as Smike was heartbreaking (and legbreaking by the sight of his physical performance). Can't seem to find when the last 5 parts will be shown but they're very much worth looking out for. |
