Peter Jackson has said that there will be no film of the Hobbit for at least four years and that it's going to take teams of lawyers to sort this one out as the film rights are owned by two companies.
You can read more about this here: No Hobbit picture for four years. |

Gah, that would have been a good film as well. I love The Hobbit.

That's as maybe, but after the phenomenal success of the LOTR trilogy,
the two companies involved aren't going to let the rights go for a song are they? They'll probably play hard ball, hence the team of lawyers... |

I would like to see Bill Bailey getting a part in it, with his west country accent, he could be Bilbo.

Didn't he say he was up for a part in LotR on Jonathan Ross?

I think he's a bit old to be Bilbo in the Hobbit.
I could see him as a dwarf though. Cheers AC |

The question for me is, can/will Ian Holm reprise his role? Obviously, it's quite a younger Bilbo than was seen in Jackson's previous films, but then, he did portray a rather youthful fellow in the prologue to the Fellowship film...
If Holm can't do it, then who would you like to see? |

I loved the fact that Ian Holm played Bilbo in LotR - especially since he played Frodo in the old BBC radio play version (which I grew up with and loved as a kid)
He may be a bit long in the tooth to carry off the younger Bilbo now. hmmmm who else? I'll have to think about that one. Cheers AC |

Right or wrong I've always imagined Bilbo to be an older character anyway so I would say Ian Holm should be fine for that - although if the film isn't made for another four/five years he may well be too old by that point.

QUOTE (Raven @ Mar 14 2005, 01:05 AM) Yes it's certainly on the "Part Troll" DVD. Then again he did talk about his act for a long time when he was on Johnathon Ross and the things he included in it. For instance that machine/instrument he uses that Johnathon thought was fake... |

Agreed. That's what I'm worried about -- the delay. Just like Harrison Ford will always be Dr. Jones to me, he'll need an inordinate amount of Just For Men at the rate Indy 4 is proceeding. |
