QUOTE (Svein @ Mar 24 2006, 05:13 PM) Well....if what they say is true in The Producers, then..... As for The Hobbit, the article was last year's so that gives us three years to go. Woo hoo! How about Michael Caine as Gandalf. For starters. |

QUOTE (Ingram @ Mar 14 2005, 01:42 PM) Then again he did talk about his act for a long time when he was on Johnathon Ross and the things he included in it. For instance that machine/instrument he uses that Johnathon thought was fake... It's called a theremin, and is quite possibly the best musical instrument ever, both as a concept and as an actual instrument (see ''Good Vibrations'' by the Beach Boys) and you can make one from an old radio. |

It's taken just over a year for me to find out what the name of that is, I thank you for your much belated quoting Ed! |

I can still remember the farce that was The Hobbit stage production I went to see in Manchester about 4 years ago. With such highlights as:
-A revolving set that was 2 large sections that spun round to reveal different things. I lost count how many times it got stuck and a techie had to kick it to get it going again, accompainied by much mechanical whirring and banging. -A man in an eagle costume, whose feet could be seen dangling from the ceiling a full 10 minutes before he entered, and when he did it was possibly the worst flying effect I've ever seen. -Ringwraiths were in it at the end with glowing swords, for some reason I can't even remember. -Gandalf looked like the head priest in Temple of Doom, in fact I'm pretty sure he had a skull on his head. -Some laughably bad acting from a few of the cast members, including Gandalf who for some unexplained reason had a different voice at the end (with the ringwraiths) "You are not the Hobbit you once were, Bilbo Baggins" in a silly high-pitched voice... And this was a profesional production I paid good money to see. I'm sure that must be worse than the musical LotR. As for The Hobbit film, I'm willing to wait so long as the end result is good. If we have a Hobbit movie, then I think we should have Sir Ian back as Gandalf... I know he'd be happy to do it!

Because it wouldn't make as good a film, they thought.
They'd always planned to do LotR and then Hobbit if it does well, I seem to remember reading. |

Jack asses. But the sad thing is they know you'd go and see it if it was directed by a trained monkey.

QUOTE (curtinparloe @ Nov 21 2006, 06:06 AM) Actually, PJ and Fran Walsh released a statement explaining exactly why New Line passed on them. All in all, it would seem, a disappointing end to the relationship given how instrumental New Line were initially in getting the trilogy made properly. |
