Done my ten. Although I fully expect a few "Oh shit! Should have included that!" moments over the coming days.

What about films that fall under two categories (example if you wanted to vote for the new version of The Producers, not that you would) can it count under both comedy and musical separately?

Lots of the films in the short-list cross several genres.

As long as one of the genres that could categorise your choice is 'comedy' that's fine and dandy.

Hmmm, if you have any choices you're unsure about then PM them to me.

I would generally say no though, if a film is just funny because it's bad then it's not really a 'comedy' in the strictest sense.

Sometimes the director's intention may be up for debate though, see 'Showgirls'.

As well as an example that's also a recommendation.

A good way of checking a film's genre is to look it up on IMDB.

I'd also recommend thinking about your votes for a few days as a lot of people posted "Damn! I didn't think of that!" or "I wish I'd thought about my choices more" type comments whilst we were doing the Sci-Fi Poll.

Yeah, but if you were polled on the street, or over the phone, you wouldn't have the luxury of considering your responses. wink.gif

Cool, nice thread. I'm quite sure I haven't yet seen many classic comedies, but nevertheless I look forward to compiling my 'ten'.

And it sure as hell won't include Anchorman. Or Zoolander. biggrin.gif
