I absolutely loved Dubstar, especially Sarah's voice, so I'm off to make some purchases next week. |

QUOTE (Sir_Robin_the_brave @ May 10 2005, 05:47 PM) yes, and he still is, and its very good indeed. he went around europe and america and recorded different tracks with different producers. its basically electro / housey stuff with his vocals over the top. and if you like that, hes done a brilliant dj-kicks where he acapellas over a load of tracks, singing 'there is a light that never goes out' and 'always on my mind' over quality house tunes. plus avenue d's 'too drunk to fuck'. top quality music, top guy. |

QUOTE (Sir_Robin_the_brave @ May 10 2005, 05:47 PM) Indeed. And (as possibly mentioned elsewhere before) guest vocalist on Royksopp's 'Melody A.M.' album. Royksopp, incidentally, for those not already aware, have a new album due out 27th June QUOTE (Sir_Robin_the_brave @ May 10 2005, 05:47 PM) In addition to what Pots said, it has bit of an 80's slant to it, to my ear, anyhoo. (thinking about it, that's probably exactly what electro/housey entails, duh. I'm tired, ignore me.) And the 'DJ Kicks' album what he done is well worth investigerisation. I'm far from an expert on electronica, but Susumu Yokota's 'Sakura' CD is excellent. This is a sample of the reviews:
"A stunningly beautiful record.....Susumu Yokota continues to show himself as one of the most gifted producers on the planet, and, not before time, the early works of Eno and Aphex Twin have been joined on their pedestal" Wax, 10/10, Abstract Album Of The Month And here's a link to it on Amazon with loads more information Also, one of my friends who knows what he's on about recommends this site: http://www.digitallyimported.com/ He says he never listens to his own music anymore - he just listens to whichever radio station on the site suits his mood. |

I really enjoyed your CD pots, some of the stuff did sound a bit similar but that's just an outsider perspective. I would listen to it more but I'm horrendously anal about what I put on my iPod. If it's not a full album then it ain't going on there

I would listen to it more but I'm horrendously anal about what I put on my iPod. If it's not a full album then it ain't going on there yeah i've listened to it a few times since making it and think the same - but i stuck on it all the stuff i think of as 'electronica' as opposed to dance, house, nu soul, yadda yadda so they all do sound quite samey. anyway, hopefully there'll be a few tracks you really like and then you can go and check out their albums. our friend erland is a good place to start... edit - at this moment i'm listening to 'kicking a dead pig', an album of mogwai remixes, and even if you don't know the originals its a good electronica-ish album edit edit - oh yeah, mp, susuma yokota is really good too. definitely worth checking out.
