In the past 4 years, I've been to London once, maybe twice. Before that I commuted there for two months (a ball-ache from Liverpool, I can tell you) about the time of the Attack of the Clones premiere, but there were always other things to do than go to the IMAX.
Besides, I can go to the IMAX in Manchester*, a mere 20 minutes away by train, and not have to worry about finding accommodation or cheap train/bus tickets. Or sooty nostrils... It's academic anyway, £35 is no longer something I have. * The end of Harry Potter 5 was pretty groovy in 3D, although the spurty wands were worrying. |

QUOTE (Zoe @ Aug 24 2007, 10:24 AM) Seriously though, you must all go to London occasionally? I manage 4 or 5 times a year from waaaay up here in Nottingham. There are dragons in London. And gays. And fancy furniture. And ladies of the night. It could initimate some and excite many. I've always had a great time in London, whenever I've been. Even though I often feel lowly and bumpkinlike. |

I've had mixed experiences, some nice, some not so nice. The meeting of people I've only met online, I liked. The falling down the gap, I didn't like.

QUOTE (curtinparloe @ Aug 24 2007, 12:50 PM) Well, it wouldn't be London without the odd bad experience. Falling down an escalater, getting mugged, having a fat man rub his genitals on the back of your leg in an act of sexual perversion. London baby! |

QUOTE (edgar wright @ Aug 22 2007, 02:14 PM) No firm details as yet, but a word to the wise. If you're not a member of the BFI, this may be a good time to join as there may be a special SPACED event coming in the next few months and BFI members always get first dibs on tickets... Just so you know. Edgar Ooh this sounds really exciting! Keep us posted Londoners. As per usual, I want to know every detail. |

£20 for me, muhuahaa!
Does anyone know if BFI members can buy the advanced tickets for other people as well? Or can you only buy tickets for yourself? |

Or can you only buy tickets for yourself? Yeah me too! My Open Uni degree which is taking years and years to complete has it's perks ... you can get an NUS card for years and years too. It's saved me loads at the cinema and transport to London! I'm guessing they may have a maximum order per transaction, but I'm guessing it's going to be more than one ticket, so yeah, I reckon we can order tickets for others too. |

Hmm... may have to split the membership fee with The Lucy then. I did send them a message asking about it but they never replied.

Student membership for me.
Now I must cease this frivolous spending. Until the tickets go onsale. But then I will stop for good! Until The Times/BFI London Film Festival starts... But then that's it. Until the BBC Electric Proms. It is no use! I am doomed to one day find myself subjected to Jay and Benjamin's harsh budgeting regime This post has been edited by Ghost_862: Aug 28 2007, 05:16 PM |

Just an update on the buying tickets for other people thang:
QUOTE (Some BFI Employee) Member Benefits for booking tickets are that on the advance booking you can book for yourself and up to three guests. So, huzzah! |
