Man vs Food upsets me for three reasons
1) It's horrible to watch someone eating (and spitting out) such an excessive amount of food in a world where so many are starving 2) It's gross 3) It confuses me how he can eat so much and only be a bit fat, I can't imagine him exercising |

1 - i have never seen him spit out food. although excess is never a good thing, i don't think the fact that people are starving has any bearing on anything. at least he is given the opportunity to eat the food and it is not simply stock-piled and left to go rotten to maintain a steady market value of what is actually released for sale, like what happens with some other food stuffs...
2 - there is some grossness involved, but there's also some quality yumminess thrown in for good measure... 3 - apparently he is practically a health freak / fitness fanatic in between shooting series of this and will exercise twice a day throughout filming, including hour long treadmill sessions... Really? I absolutely cannot imagine him exercising, but I knew he must (hence my confusion by his only slightly podgy face)
Maybe we should send deep fried sandwiches, with mac and cheese dressing, to Somalia |

Man vs Food sounds fucking foul (i've not seen it). And like Brooker, I wonder if Man Vs Poo would be the more titanic affair.

as for brooker, he was a guilty of being a bit lazy there, not to mention a year or so behind the times...
sure, there's a degree of out-pigging going on, but it is never done without a sense of appreciation of just how ridiculous these challenges are or how stupidly big portions are and, on the whole, he makes a point of discussing how daft he is to have attempted eating something so hot or having tried to stuff so much food into himself... the show is also a great celebration of small, independent diners, cafes and restaurants, which are run as labours of love, with great affection for the food they produce, the effort that goes into it and bringing joy to people... not bad things in my opinion... the worst thing about the show is that it must be made for people with the attention span of goldfish and it is riddled with repetition. |

Skarsgard was in 'Beyond the Pole' on Saturday with Rhys Thomas and Stephen Mangan - did anyone see it?

Eric's seduction of The King and his husband is hilarious, and I like seeing Lafayette all flustered as he's not the one calling the shots with Jesus.
