Should these (^) be spoilered? I'm fairly sure they're not from season 2 which hasn't yet been shown on terrestrial.

Gulfcoast's observations are not actually spoilery, even though the facts seem juicy. It's good to see Lafayette becoming more multi-dimensional. The character was getting a little stale, in my opinion. I thought the first two episodes of S3 were the weakest yet, but now I'm liking the story arc a lot more. I think it was a mistake to introduce so many new characters so quickly, especially since it's only since this last episode that we've really been given a sense of what this werewolf business is all about. I still miss the Bon Temps setting, though. |

I saw the first ep of Season 3. Twas very good.
- Suddenly Awesome Sookie (as per TWoP). She actual has a backbone and isn't just a thicko after all. - Suddenly not that annoying Bill - but still pretty annoying with that fucking Playmobil hair. But less so. - The old woman tho' Yikes. - Pam being lots of funny. She is fast becoming a favourite. "Maybe it's because I wear so much pink!" - Eric's Aryan arse that one may compare as less impressive than his fathers in Breaking the Waves but more defined abs. - Sam's dirty Bill dream. Fandom slash eats itself. - Jason continues his journey of self-awareness and cannot get it up! Aww poor Stackbaby. - Andy and Terry bond. - The Queen blahblah something selling V. - Lafayette and Jessica back to his old selves - if not yet for Tara. - Letty Mae feeling up the preacher. And much more. |

Don't get me wrong, there's tons of funny so far. I was just really annoyed with the onslaught of new characters.. |

I finished Season 2 yesterday after the third of three bulk watching sessions with a couple of friends. I really enjoyed the last couple of episodes - including the finale, which was quite odd in the way that it resolved everything quite early on, but did set up some nice plot threads for Season 3 - and thought that the season overall overcame a weak opening to become even better than Season 1. Alexander Skarsgard really came into his own this season, and I thought the show managed to make much better use of its splintered cast than in the first season (Tara, in particular, felt less like a third wheel than she did the first time round) by developing each of them fully and not letting any one of them drag on too long. Case in point; the fundamentalist Christian lot, whose plotline was good but who were dropped before they got too boring.
One thing that struck me this time around was how good the show is at cliffhangers. When we started our second session, we were on episode four, but every subsequent episode had such a shocking or fun cliffhanger that we had to keep watching until we'd watched six episodes in a row and it was 3 in the morning. I think only Breaking Bad does better cliffhangers than True Blood, but never episode after episode. Jason and Eric continued to be the most fun (the line: "If a tree falls in the woods, it's still a tree, ain't it?" had me in peals of laughter) but I was surprised by how much I liked Jessica by the end of the season. When they introduced her in Season 1, she was petulant and annoying and I was so glad that they moved away from that towards making her more vulnerable and scared. Her relationship with Hoyt was quite sweet, if weird, and I'm really interested in seeing where they take her character in the future. So, yeah, I really loved it. Can't wait to see Season 3. Skarsgard was in 'Beyond the Pole' on Saturday with Rhys Thomas and Stephen Mangan - did anyone see it? We had the director (sadly not Skarsgard) in for a screening a few months back. He's very nice, but the film's pretty rubbish. Mockumentaries are very hard to do well, and a good cast can't make up for a lack of comic invention. |

Has anyone seen anything about True Blood going to Sky? I can't find anything about where Sky plan to show all their HBO shows, I really hope it's Sky1 not some stupid new channel that I can't get on Virgin.

I am in love with Jessica. I hope she eats that four-foot high, Bible-thumping, doll-loving troll.
Season 3 stuff below Crystal is annoying, and I'd really like to know what's up with her and her people. I sort of suspect they're werewolves. The pack in Mississippi said they'd been there for 200 years without a human knowing about them, and I don't think we've seen werewolves in Bon Temps yet, so maybe Crystal's people are still incognito. |
