Caught up with episode 1 of Season 4 of The Wire. Sooooo good. The cold open, in particular, was a stroke of sheer genius, as was all the stuff of Carcetti on the campaign trail. Having McNulty shift from being a central character to a fairly minor one seems like an odd shift in focus and I'm not sure how long it'll take to acclimatise to it, but I've every confidence in those involved.

But ... but ... i like McNulty. *sniff* Oh well. Season 5 I guess.

I've been catching up on Season 3. It's bloody farking marvellous. And I remember now how much I like Aidan Gillen. Even when he is a nasty wee weasel.

Omar is the man.

He's brilliant, easily one of the top three characters in the show (Stringer jusssssst pips him in my opinion, based one having seen three and a bit seasons of the show).

Season 3 is my favourite so far, though I have high hopes for Season 4.

Clay Davis is one of my favourite characters because he's just such an immoral, corrupt character yet you can't help quite liking him. He has the best catchphrase ever too.

I finished Season 5 a few weeks ago. You will not be disappointed. McNulty's storyline is especially strong, the show definitely benefits from scaling his role back in season 4.

Much as I love Gene Hunt, whenever I've seen Glenister interviewed he seems terribly 'actor-y' and a bit grumpy.

'Actor-y'? Well he is an actor. If he was a greengrocer he'd be terribly greengrocer-y.

I've liked the interviews I've seen him do. He's very dry and also seems really quite grateful for any compliment or praise he's given.

Though I may be quite biased as I find him schmex-y.

When the US version of The Office firsdt aired here in the UK, I watched the first one and wasn't that impressed and so didn't watch many more.

Thanks (a thousand times) to the Paramount Channel for showing it recently, I started watching and it is brilliant.

Yesterday, the last one they are showing (for now I hope) was Casino Night.

If you've seen the show, you know which moment I'm talking about, but I don't think I've ever felt my heart stop watching whilst a TV show like that before. It was amazingly done. I shed a couple of tears.

I'm tempted to buy the next series on DVD. I must know what happens next!

Fo' real. I just finished S.3. Great great stuff. There are so many complex and unique characters in the show even minor ones e.g. Bubs (still one of my favs), Cutty, Prez, Bodie, Brianna, Prop Joe, Judge Phelan, Cheese (aka. Methodman and his funny walk) and the genuinely scary Brother Mouzone. I'm glad Frankie Faison finally gets a good role but for me, the King of Season 3 is Colvin. With the likes of him and Freamon, the show gives older (and younger) African-American actors a chance to shine. I don't know any other show which compares in this respect, really.

Clay Davis is an interesting fellow and will be interested to see more of him in S.4. And the Marlo people like the funny wee boy-girl, Snoop. She chronic, y'all. That is street slang BTW. I also think Carver is very handsome and when Officer Collichio (with his stupid hair) appears on screen, I want to sing "Jaaaayne the man they call Jaaaayne ... "

BTW Carcetti in his speechifying reminds me of Eddie Murphy doing Kennedy impressions in "Bowfinger" or Mayor Quimby ... hehe. Maybe just me.

Bodie has become something of a favourite character for me, even though he's not really all that important. There's something about someone who is so low down in an organisation who just gets kicked around the place that I find interesting and I have tremendous sympathy for him.

Snoop's great as well (the first time I saw her it took a good couple of minutes before I could determine if she was a boy or a girl) and she gets a great little moment early on in Season 4 that had me in stitches.

Recently finished watching series 4. It's a slow burner, and that's saying something for this show!

I thoroughly enjoyed it, not as good as S3 but on a par with S1 and S2. However, I thought it got a little preachy at times with the "special class" thing.

I love the way it can take the focus of someone who is seemingly a major character for pretty much a whole series, in this case McNulty, and still retain the arcs which are now into their 5th series.

The Many Happy Returns episode of the Prisoner has to be my favourite. The ending gets me every time.

Watched new comedy The Inbetweeners on E4. It's co-written by Iain Morris and has Robert Popper as script editor. It's about a group of 17 year old 6th formers seeing out the last half of their teenage years and their comical antics along the way.

Purile, rude, un-PC and occasionaly disgusting...however, very funny. Some great one liners, visually entertaining and great to see something with teenagers that isn't about 'issues and tears'. It's not for everyone but if you like to just switch your mind off and enjoy a bit of childish fun then you could do much worse than this.
