Turn off shadows, that makes a huge difference in performance. I've tried every setting possible on both systems and while having shadows turned off does offer a 5-7fps boost it's still chugging nastily. There seems to be a big problem with lighting effects right now, the cantina areas with their holographic dancers and various sources of dynamic lighting cause particularly nasty drops in performance. On a quad core, 6gb RAM system with a decent graphics card the game only runs marginally better than it does on a dual core 4gb RAM laptop with no graphics card even on the lowest settings and a relatively low resolution of 1260x720 , there's definitely something amiss with the client itself. It ran better in the beta oddly enough, my laptop kicking out a steady 25fps where now it sometimes peaks at 20. I'll be patient seeing as the game itself is fun, I'll stick with it to see what happens. At the very least I'll be finishing the class quests for the Sith Inquisitor to see if there's any more to becoming a disciple of Ravan than just a title. I know HK-47 is in the game thanks to one of the trailers too so I'll be seeking him out to get some choice insults about meatbags thrown at me before I quit. I had a sudden urge to play Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, only to find that no one has it except Amazon, where it is in excess of £120.00.

...and they really should be using the Legolas character for promotional materials. Hopefully someone in LEGO Marketing will have as good an eye for puns as you, because that's brilliant. Where? Torrents, I guess. I never played Operation: Genesis; that's the Theme Park-style game, isn't it? |

The way I look at video game piracy is like this. If a game exists and can be purchased new, from a store (not from a single person on eBay), or downloaded via Steam/XBLA/PSN/Nintendo stores, then you should buy it.
If you buy a game new (at a hugely inflated price) from a single person, buy it used from anywhere, or download it, the developers get the same amount of money: none. I'm not prepared to spend loads of money on a game just because someone bought it and didn't open it. When they bought it, the developers got their cut, and that's their only money for the entire lifespan of the disc. As such, downloading games is a little different to movies and music, because those are (almost) always readily obtainable new by legal means. If the people who made the media, and the publishers who produced it, are getting no money from it, what's the difference? I would say though, that if you download a game and enjoy it, and it later comes to Steam or XBLA or where-ever, then you should pay for it to show your appreciation, and to encourage future conversions of older games. I own the Sonic the Hedgehog games on Mega Drive cart, ROM, XBLA, and iOS. I have previously owned them on PC, PS2, PSP, and GameCube. I am more than willing to buy a game I enjoy and have loved for twenty years on multiple platforms, just so SEGA will see the sales stats and think "These sell well, let's release more MD games". The bay of pirates and that.
Edit: Wow, my post appeared late. Pretty much agree with Joe. Though I'll sometimes pirate a game to try it first. Especially if they don't have a demo. This post has been edited by monkeyman: Jan 14 2012, 12:58 PM |

More than once I've been caught out by downloading a game, finding I hate it, and then being stuck with it forever and losing £6 or whatever it cost. |

Downloaded, installed and modded so that I can have up to 999 dinosaurs instead of the 60 the default option allows.
I do like how people call my park "Satisfactory". Yes there is only one species so far, but where else are you going to see Dinosaurs? This post has been edited by Silky: Jan 14 2012, 06:39 PM |
