QUOTE (Jessopjessopjessop @ Dec 26 2007, 05:40 PM) Whilst the special most certainly was not the best that we have to offer, Lord knows it wasn't, Doctor Who has its moments of genius. Watch the episode ''Blink'' from the last series, written by the very talented David Moffat, who has written several of the great episodes of the modern incarnation of Who, and you'll see how good the show can be. I thought the special was pretty poor, to be honest. It went from enjoyable fluff to shockingly bad several times and as a result was much too patchy for me to enjoy; every decent joke or idea was immediately followed by some shit about a cyborg dwarf, or something equally moronic. QUOTE (Wife Of Rolex @ Dec 26 2007, 07:16 PM) I'm in your camp... Maybe we're just simple folk who all they ask is that their TV shows are entertaining and that's all. I thought it was great. I like the Poseidon adventure feel and that the snotty git didn't die. Made the line about choosing who lives or dies poignant. Thoroughly entertaining tele... |

Just watched it.
I enjoyed it. It was very silly, maybe even stupid - but lordy was it fun! |

Apologies for being pedantic but it's Steven Moffat... Why didn't Kylie just jump out of the fork lift truck? It was going at around five miles an hour. |

They could have at least give Max an arm or something to grab her with so that she could have legitimately been dragged down. |

I thought it was as simple as she couldn't take her foot off the accelerator until it was too late to jump out. But, let's be honest, as soon as Kylie agreed to be a companion she was going to die before the end of the episode.

I would imagine so that Tennant has his first "companian" that he's not been able to save... Plot device for next season...
I, for one, will give Catherine Tate a chance... After all, a lot of people turned their nose up at Billie Piper, and you never know, she might be able to shake the skitshow moniker... And she wasn't *that* bad in last years special... What I'm wondering is who the big villain will be this year... We've had Daleks, Cybermen and The Master... My money is on EITHER one of the following 3 (in order) 1) Sontarans 2) The Rani 3) Borusa 4) Omega |

But once she lifted him up she could have just let the momentum of the thing carry him over the edge, leaping out at the last second and, at the very least, grabbed hold of something, had a teary goodbye with the Doctor and then fallen down. |

A piss poor plot, with little or no tension and far too many plot holes to list, but what really pissed me off was the way the Doctor was so bloody needy.
Martha left him literally minutes before, and he's straight out the TARDIS and chatting up the first gal who catches his eye. Doctor Who? - Doctor Letch more like . . . (and Svein, they've already announced the Sontarans for next year). |

Although I didn't hate it, I was pretty dissapointed. I felt like they were trying too hard to make us sad at the deaths of the gang they made up, which I didn't feel at all. And the shot of Kylie falling reminded me of the titanic episode of Futurama. And the shot right after of Tennant walking in slow motion looked like a perfume ad. I did enjoy the choose who lives or dies line, and the last scene.
I also thought the trailer was disappointing. But then again, trailers can be decieving. |

With 50 million credits on his card, the tour guide still ended up with Hyacinth Bucket to live out his years.
