Eureka's a fun little show. Shame about a cancellation but it means we get nearly 2 more series of it (Second half of series 4 has started here, which I appear to have missed).
Just realised... You guys just call it 'Eureka' over there? It's 'A Town Called Eureka' here. Guess that may mean Warehouse 13 might get the chop too, ouch. That's not a bad show either, IMO. This post has been edited by Everlong: Aug 11 2011, 08:04 PM |

According to Aldis Hodge (who plays Hardisson on the show), Leverage has been pciked up for another season. This is good, as it means more bg/featured work for omni next year.

At a cast reunion in New York, Mitch Hurwitz and co. announced that Arrested Development will be coming back for a ten-episode run that will lead up to the movie. They're all committed to it by the sound of things and they all sound fairly certain that it'll happen, even though I don't think that they have set a date for either.
If this happens, it may be the greatest thing ever. If. |

I think this is the best way about going about it. As the years have gone on the idea of doing a movie has become less tenable to me; too much time has passed for them to cover it all in a movie and tell a story without it becoming overloaded. This way, they can catch everyone up with the ten episodes then leap into the film relatively unencumbered.

From what I've read, each episode of the proposed new series would focus on an individual member of the Bluth clan, the nthe movie would follow. IF it happens, that could work, I think. If they just copeid the format from the original I'm not sure it would.

The final barrier to Arrested Development coming back - someone being willing to pony up the money for it - looks like it might be removed sooner rather than later, as Netflix and Hulu are now in a bidding war to see who can fund the new episodes. Obviously, everything could still all fall apart somewhere down the line, and this doesn't seem to cover the movie, but considering how much of a boon the old episodes have been to both networks I can't imagine either would win the bid, only to not make more episodes. There's a lot of potential profit at stake.

'The Newsroom', 'True Blood' renewed for new seasons by HBO.
I really want to see The Newsroom, it looks like the most interesting series to come out of the US for a while. |

I've seen the first episode and it's pretty good, though not on a par with The West Wing, Sports Night, or even the pilot of Studio 60 (as much as I came to dislike that show, the first episode remains pretty stunning). It feels like a more natural place for people to discuss big issues about society, politics and media than on a sketch show, but it hasn't yet found its feet. Even so, Sorkin's pretty much the best writer of dialogue working these days, so even if the characters are a bit broad and the central conceit (the series examines real-life events such as the BP Oil Spill from the perspective of fictional characters, which is a bit odd) is a bit clunky.
Even with all that said, as someone who watches a lot of US TV, I wouldn't say it was in the top 20 most interesting shows airing at the moment. |

Yeah, I can't help but feel that way about it. One of the best things about Eastbound and Down was that they went in with an idea of doing a finite number of episodes over only three seasons. I'm sure that a fourth season would be funny, but I'd be worried about them losing the focus that drove the first three.
