No, the default configuration is R1 for fire and R2 grenade.

I consider the R1 button the trigger button because that's always been the primary fire button on PS shooters. You'd have to hold the controller in a weird way otherwise.

I always use R2 for Primary fire, I think because of having never played PS2 shooters but lots on the 360, so I got some of those little attachable trigger extension things for my PS3 controller because it is not designed for it. Makes it much more comfortable.

I haven't found a non-weird way of holding it no matter which button I use as fire. If you use the dpad and buttons the pad is fine, but both analogue sticks are just too low down for my liking. To put my thumbs on the sticks forces the rest of my hand off the pad so I feel like I'm going to drop it. It tilts the whole pad backwards away from me, making the R and L buttons even harder to reach, and it's all angular. The 360 pad feels like it's moulded exactly to the shape of my hands so that the analogue sticks are naturally under my thumbs without having to even try. It's mainly that empty space between palm and pad when thumbs are on the sticks I don't like.

Still, I've got reasonably used to it now for Killzone 2. I'm not sure how far through I am but it's been pretty good so far. Not a classic, but a solid, polished 8 out of 10 shooter. The story, while well presented in game, didn't really explain who the hell the enemy even are or what they've allegedly done wrong. The combat's good, but I seem to have been playing it for a while and always been using about 3 different looking versions of exactly the same gun.

This is why you should use different consoles. PS controllers are my favourite, they just feel right. smile.gif

Agreed with that. The 360 pads do have better triggers though, in terms of how nice they feel to press down.

First screenshots of MAG (Massive Action Game [lol]), a PS3 exclusive shooter which will have 128 Vs 128......More screenshots if you go to the source in the article. I really don't know how they are going to get 256 player matches to run smoothly; the graphics aren't amazing looking there, but they are aren't bad either. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Nintendo: Consumers Don't like Used Games

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that they see no cash for used game sales? I know for a fact that used game/DVD sales are very high; I have a friend who owns a shop that sells nothing but 2nd-hand games/consoles/DVDs etc, and he's always got customers.

And I'm sure 2nd hand books have a much higher market than he claims, too.

I saw that the other day. I can't believe someone in his position can come out with something so completely and utterly wrong. Second hand games aren't in the publisher's best interest but consumers? I thought it was an April Fool when I read what he said, what a complete idiot. The fact that places like Game and Gamestation and the like have huge pre-owned sections and are making a fortune off it, means he's disputing a provable fact. What's he going to claim next, that people don't like buying music off the internet?

Even his comparisons to DVDs and CDs and books are complete bullshit too. Something that costs £40 new being sold for £25-30 second hand is a massive saving for those who don't have a lot to spend, whereas DVDs and CDs only tend to cost about a tenner or less anyway, so who cares if it's got a quid knocked off for a second hand copy?

I'd rather buy a second hand book than a second hand game but that's only because most second hand games in high street shops (Game, Gamestation) don't actually sell games any cheaper than Amazon or Play.

The new Wario game on the DSi is lots of fun.

I usually wait until games are cheaper new or on offer before I buy them but I will occasionally have a go at a second hand game. However, they are rarely cheaper than buying them online to be honest, unless you buy them second hand online.

DeadSpace is still very enjoyable and has gotten a bit more intense. I ended up having to leg it away from a load of monsters because I completely ran out of ammo which was pretty cool. I'm pretty much only using the first gun you get given which I have powered up nicely but I'm also using the Pulse Rifle. I haven't even bothered with any of the other guns yet. There seems to be no shortage of ammo or at least things to sell and buy ammo but I think that may be because I'm from the same school as Chris in that I try and explore everywhere I can.

Sure is.

Started playing it a bit again & accidentally did it to a Brahmin in The Temple of the Union. It made me laugh.
I'm thinking of buying Eternal Sonata as it's finally been released for PS3. Anyone recommend it or otherwise?

I recommend the Line gun, it is a wider version of the plasma cutter, and it's secondary fire chucks out a mine which is useful for firing into a room and then backing away whilst it explodes. I have a special place in my heart for the ripper as well, though it's really at it's best when fully modified.

I was playing Dead Space yesterday with the curtains closed, all alone in the house. Then suddenly Totoro decides she wants to be loved and stroked and jumps up into my lap without warning. I swear I nearly shit myself and she nearly ended up going across the room. Silly kitty probably thought it would be amusing to make me scream like a little girl.
