I probably will too.
When I saw the trailer on the big screen, I was mildly impressed. The vehicles, environments and Clone Troopers all look great. It's just some of the characters look a bit odd. Apparently, the TV series is much better and solves some of the problems critics had with the movie. I loved the cartoon series, so I'm looking forward to the new one too, and the movie is like an extended first episode I believe. |

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Caught it on Film 4 this afternoon. A nice idea, I liked how they reworked the old 30's serials for a big screen outing, but it was let down hugely by the acting, and especially the presence of Gwyneth Paltrow, who just cannot act to save her life. |

Little Women
It has been years since I read the book (I don't know what happened to my copy of it) so I'm not sure about how faithful it was to the novel, but I loved it. |

Hot Fuzz
It gets better every time I see it, but that may be due in part to the fact that I now know what to expect from it, so I can tailor my expectations to match. It's still not perfect, but it's fun! |

Nice and sweet, if a bit predictable. Liked it a lot You Don't Mess With The Zohan If you like Adam Sandler comedies watch it. If you don't, this isn't going to change your opinion of him (for that see Punch Drunk Love). Childish humour, stupid action/fight sequences and lot's of humus - I enjoyed it. |

No Country For Old Men
I thought the first 3/4's of the film was great and very tense but it really lost its way in the last 20 minutes or so and I really wanted something more from it. I would watch the first bit again and enjoy it just as much I think but I felt let down by the lacklustre and rather abrupt ending. The Departed I had watched Infernal Affairs last year sometime and so I kept on seeing parts that had been pinched from it but I thoroughly enjoyed this film right the way through and thought the ending was great if rather depressing. The fact that I'd seen Infernal Affairs did detract some of the shock value out of it and I can't remember it in enough detail to notice which bits are different but it was still very enjoyable and had some extremely likeable characters. |

I couldn't sit through The Departed. The accents drove me crazy. I will watch it eventually though, when I am less tired and irritable.
I bought Chris Infernal Affairs 1,2 and 3 recently though, so we have to watch them first I think. |

QUOTE (Sostie @ Aug 18 2008, 10:41 AM) You Don't Mess With The Zohan I prefer his more serious work, and the less-goofy of his comedies, but I'm warming to Sandler's wackier persona more with every film. I sat through Little Nicky chuckling like a twat the other night. Zohan does look hilarious though, if the trailer is any guage. If you like Adam Sandler comedies watch it. If you don't, this isn't going to change your opinion of him (for that see Punch Drunk Love). Childish humour, stupid action/fight sequences and lot's of humus - I enjoyed it. QUOTE (Zoe @ Aug 18 2008, 12:46 PM) Wahlberg has all the best lines.

QUOTE (Ade @ Aug 18 2008, 01:32 PM) I thought that film was funny as shit. The basketball game is wicked, as is the news bulletin fakery. In a controversial move, the drinking age has been lowered from 21, to 12. The classic 'I love New York' slogan was today changed to 'I Love Hookers!' Hilarious. QUOTE (ipse dixit @ Aug 19 2008, 09:40 AM) 'Someone' = me, wasnt' it? In other news, I re-watched Grosse Point Blank yesterday when it was on BBC1. I remember watching it a few years ago and being disappointed, but I really enjoyed it this time round. Very funny and has some quality action/humour intermingling. It's not me. |
