Posted this before the big forum kerrrash, so here it is again:
Just a heads up for our few, out proud, our SoCal membership - last week at the Indy double feature at the New Beverly, the trailers were for Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, respectively. Meaning a double bill is on the way; I emailed the theater to get the dates as the July/August sked isn't up yet, and it looks like it'll be on August 12, 13 & 14. Don't miss out, Angeleeeenos. |

What a cool double.
I wish they would screen them as a double here. I was hoping The Astor might do it - but instead they are screening Hot Fuzz with Reno 911 Miami. However they are screening Ferris Bueller and doing a live Q & A with Alan Ruck!! So maybe I'll forgive them. Only trouble is, the Alan Ruck thing is right in the middle of our holidays so we may be in another state at that time. |

Will do best to be there for double bill on Sunday. Glad it's more than one day. My schedule is always messy, so options are a good thing.
El Coyote ... nice choice. How I do love her charms. The margs are superb and the restaurant has the dubious honor of being the last place Sharon Tate ate dinner before she was murdered by the Manson Family. YAY! |

QUOTE (shaka37 @ Jun 22 2007, 09:28 AM) That they definitely are. Best selling point of the place, actually, besides the tackeriffic decor in the lounge. The food's average. I actually berated my editor for not ordering margarita when I took him there. Come on, dude, you can have a whiskey next time. No one's going to question your manhood. Tackeriffic ... to the point of nausea. Do you love the dresses on the waitresses? If it weren't so totally kitschy and over-the-top, it would actually be kind of offensive. I love El Coyote because it just harkens back to a time in L.A. when they tried to kitsch-ify the deserty allure of the West with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Same thing with Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks. Antonios on Melrose is another kitschy Mexican restaurant, but the food there is amazing and I think Antonio still greets you and seats you.
