Edit: I only caught up with episode one just before last night's aired.
I'm really enjoying it - could be a bit of a slow-burner for a lot of folks,
but so far it's been better than I expected.

My thinking is the same ... it's a bit of a grower. I liked the first episode, but the second one really got my attention, and I am holding out high hopes for the rest of the series.

And fair play to Ross Kemp for playing himself like that. And ditto for Shaun (forgotten his surname), ex Barry from Eastenders. Is he likely to make repeat appearances in the agents office.

EDIT - if i have one criticism, it is that the agent's office looked so crap and fake. You could almost tell that the "brick wall" outside the window was wallpaper or some such and the whole thing felt like cheaply put together set, almost like an afterthought. But its only a small gripe.

I am the only one who felt really sorry for Ross Kemp when he talked about being bullied on set? He played it quite sweetly and I thought it worked really well.

I hope so - I'd love to see him every so often, just doing odd jobs around the agent's office, like fixing the light.

Did anyone else get the feeling that maybe this was written as the opening episode and got switched to give Stiller as a big name to open? Stuff like introducing the Merchant's character, their conversation about not happy with the work he's getting, being put on the spot about not having done any 'real' acting, reading out his CV about his past office job... ?

I felt that the first episode served to draw people in whilst the second dealt with a bit more of the exposition, so they may have been swapped but Gervais and Merchant have a bit too much clout to let that happen unless they wanted to, they did dictate what channel and time and year the show would be shown after all.

Kate Winslet rocked but I'm starting to get a little bored of Maggie's weekly dumping.

She wasn't in it as much this week. I think we benefitted from that. Anything was worth seeing Kate Winslet miming a wank.

I thought the series really hit its stride this week. I laughed so hard at one point I started choking. ('I've been touched by God. Not in that way...') Kate Winslet was very good, and it was great to see the old 58008 joke again.
