A lot of this is probably down to Adam & The Ants taking being a ponce so much more seriously than Duran Duran did...

Duran Duran, in large part because I dig Nick Rhodes's synth sounds.

Even though I adore the Antmusic/Prince Charming tracks, I chose Duran Duran, they have so many awesome tracks, and Rio is one of my favourites. And I used to live two roads away from them, cooo!

You know, in my childhood it was Duran Duran with a bullet. The covered more wall space than just about any other band with the possible exception of Men at Work - and then only during the summer of '83, yes I started early - and I've never really forgiven John Taylor for being 15 years older than me, the git. Everything up to "A View To a Kill" still holds a place in my heart and I will freely admit tearing up at the reunion show when those five guys walked on stage together.
And then, as Sostie so keenly pointed out, they played That Fucking White Lines Cover, and a little bit of my childhood died. So it's the Ant. I listen to him far more often in my advanced years and I still fancy him, psychotic episodes and all. |
