I know how gutting it is when you feel the producers are arsing up their own show (cf. Buffy Season 6...).

First and foremost I'm a Buffy fanboy, but I'm also rather geeky about a lot of other things. It's just the way I am. However being insulted by a Farscape fan tends to sting a little more.

Oi! Farscape is the finest sci fi series made in years, possibly ever. What have you got? A big man wearing gold jewellery? You nicked your main character off the A-Team!

QUOTE (Ingram @ Apr 7 2005, 08:14 PM)
Well as a huge SG-1/Atlantis fan I believe that it is RDH (Richard Dean Anderson) who is one of the finest leads of any sci-fi series.  The producers of SG-1, however, have been phasing him out for some time - in fact there were many episodes of the last series in which he simply didn't appear.  Now they are bringing in Browder - a good lead, I'll give you that - it just means that less and less of what made SG-1 good in the first place will remain.
*

If you are a fan of the show then you'd know that there's a very good reason as to why they have been reducing RDA's role over the last few years . . . It's because he doesn't want to be in it anymore!

He's not a bad actor, but he's not that great (Shanks is a much better to my mind - but that's another arguement!).

...and don't get me started on Jonas Quinn.  Argh.

Well I'm gonna! I liked Jonas, and was disapointed when he left the show - even though that meant Michael Shanks was coming back into it.

Stargate SG1 (haven't seen Atlantis) is enjoyable fair, and it has some very entertaining episodes, but it probably wouldn't make it into my top ten sci-fi series . . . (damning indeed!).

Shanks is great but nothing rivals the time loop episode "Window of Oppurtunity" for pure brilliance.

Oh and I disliked Jonas for many reasons. I was happy when he was finally accepted into the group but seriously Daniel was an Ancient. That is too cool.

The best line in Window of Oppertunity, which I will admit is one of Stargate's better efforts, was the one about O'Neil's [several lightyear] golf drive being some kind of record . . . You've gotta love Teal'c when he's dead-panning smile.gif

One thing I didn't know - to get back on topic(ish) - is that Ben Browder was in Memphis Belle . . . will be watching that again very soon!

MGM has revealed the name of new Stargate SG-1 cast member Ben Browder. He will play Lieutenant Colonel Cameron Mitchell in Season Nine of the show.

Mitchell led the squadron of F-302 fighters in the battle in Antarctica during the events of Season Seven's "Lost City (Part Two)." He was badly injured during that battle, and was promised a place on SG-1. It is unclear if he will be the commanding officer of the team.

Interesting storyline, I suppose I will give him a chance considering how much I enjoyed the "Lost City" battle over Antarctica.

For anyone who is interested I was having a look around Amazon the other day and noticed that they have Stargate SG-1 series one to six box sets for an amazingly low £20.97 each! (that's not much more than the list price for the individual disks).

If you bought the lot you'd end up with 132 episodes for £126! (that's less than a pound per episode!).

I got the majority off Play.com when they were doing them for around £20-25. I did pay full whack for season seven though.
