Am I missing something? I watched the first episode last night and didn't really find it terribly funny. It's pretty tame and old-fashioned - the talking-with-your-phone-unplugged gag? That's on a par with someone slipping on a banana skin. Richard Ayoade is sweet and endearing but do we really need another brown-trousered, glasses-wearing geek cliche?
I liked Chris Morris's boss and really enjoyed the Katherine's massively overacted Jen. But apart from that... meh. |

I know what he's trying to do with it, really, it's just that Father Ted managed to be daft and gentle and silly AND funny without cliches or gags older and riper than Maggie Thatcher's undercarriage.

It certainly doesn't appear to be pushing any new boundaries. It's alright. After a couple of trailers my expectations/hopes dropped a fair bit. |

QUOTE (Zoe @ Feb 1 2006, 02:05 AM) really? maybe i just don't 'get' him then. he was funny in 'darkplace' but he's just doing the same thing here. and its not that funny. i'm with stella on this, its ok but nothing amazing. if it wasn't written by graham linehan i wonder how we'd be reacting to it. i do like the girl playing jen though, she does good comedy shouting. and chris morris' character is head and shoulders above everything else, but that kinda goes without saying. |

I can't get the show to work for me online, so I'll have to wait till Friday before I can see the show in full. But... From the trailers and clips I've seen (on last night's 'Imagine') Moss does seem to be similar to Dean Learner in terms of delivery; but different enough and still very funny. Richard does have range though, think about him in Barley or 'The Mighty Boosh', Saboo couldn't be further from Moss. Well done Tony Harrison |

Now it's been the reverse for me, Jen and Denim I find dull compared to Moss and The other one who's name I've forgotten (Rod?). |

However, the second episode is a big improvement on the first. This post has been edited by spacegurl: Feb 1 2006, 11:26 PM |

Chairman Wow!!, I am being a giddy goat... seems to me Moss gets some great quotes, and how fast was he going with that screw driver.
