I wish a wish upon a star.....
Utilising the most advanced in Too-Much-Free-Time I noticed the presence of a Dreamcast under the TV in the flat..... Sufficed to say that I was dumbfounded as to why they NEVER used it and played the immeasurably apt House Of the Dead on it?!! Okay, granted clutching a long white-thing (lightgun to those with more open minds) wouldn't have been great looking, but...BUT.. well considering Sega's campaign for the Dreamcast consisted of [Ad] [Woman walks around office] [Sonic ring sounds accompanies her] [Random epileptic colleague (the type you wouldn't lend the stapler lest he used it against you) yells] "Sonic!!" [End ad] [Sound of millions of people going "fuck this"] Anyway, aside from secretly wanting to turn Spaced into the ultimate of product placements, it'd havebeen particularly apt....plus there was piss-taking poor voice acting to rip a new arsehole out of (whoah! A last burst of crazy adjectives and metaphors! Why those crazy creme eggs!) |

Personally I think that they have a dreamcast under the TV but didn't play on it to illustrate the sad but true fact that no one plays dreamcast, despite the number of quality releases it had :| They're merely representing the state of the industry at that time, where the sony mass marketing device and trendy playstation image win over their competitors.
OR they just couldn't be arsed PS I never saw a DC in spaced? what episode(s) can you see it in? |

The Dreamcast was a fine machine. I lost count of how many hours of my life I wasted playing Crazy Taxi on it.

Oh my god! What have I unleashed!
I mentioned the Dreamcast ideally inpassing on another forum..it's now disppeared off the face of the earth after it collapsed in on itself under the weight of it's arguments and "mines bigger/better/tases better than yours" comments I remember very nearly not geting one; I must have gotten the last one in Northern Ireland...went around stors everywhere for a whole day and £200 of about 14 years of brithday money....this waas after it'd been out for ages and I'd finally sen one oto many fantastic games at my friends house to resist. So, out we went, and finally, in a dixons in Bangor I found one! With chu chu rocket (makes you hate your friends!!!! Me: michael? Mic: yes? Me: CAT!!!!!) I then bought loads of games knowing they'd be buggering off into the ether inlcuding. SHENMUE!!! ARGH!!! can't believe they're not going to finish it....give us a comic strip/anime film (which would be the best...I mean you could get away with anything in anime..it oculd have the look of Spirited Away or, hopefully, a more darker loko as he ventured onwards in his journey. FACT There are only 4 poeple in Northern Ireland who enjoyed Shenmue; the rest hated it but appreciated Jet Set Radio |

I like Shenmue, but then I'm not in NI. I thought, stupidly, that when Shenmue 2 was released on Xbox, it might mean that Shenmue 3 would come out on xbox too. I take it it won't be then... Why? Its so great!

I think Shenmue sucks, actually.
Slow, lame, and not fun period. "How about a game of Lucky Hit?" Maybe next time, Ryo. |

Actually <smugly shrugs>, I think they did use it. At the time, TIME CRISIS was only released on the Dreamcast console, so the scene in which Knox and Sophie are discussing 'new talent', and ity keeps cutting to Tim, playing said game must have involved a certain amount of dreamcast 'playage', as it was never released as a PSone title.
For what it's worth the dreamcast was the best console of it's generation, but suffered from bad marketing, and a dodgy selection of games - Virtua Tennis, Virtua football, Crazy Taxi etc were all great games, but few and far between. Since then, the PS2 has of course raised the bar to far higher levels. |

But! As far as next gen consoles etc are concerned the Dreamcast is a 128bit machine, so it should be included with PS2/Xbox/GC. Therefore it was way ahead of the competition - although lacking by current standards - AND it had a modem as standard, with the option to upgrade to a broadband modem too.
Although what the hell was the point of the bloody VM's? the batteries just ran out and they were hardly mini game boys were they? Mind you the Game Cube has expanded on that with GBA connectivity. This post has been edited by Jubei: Feb 21 2005, 11:43 AM |

QUOTE (MeteorMan @ Feb 21 2005, 06:36 AM) YOU ARE WRONG <smugly shrugs> It came out for PlayStation, never the Dreamcast. http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/list_t.html Unless you can prove me wrong, I stand by my word. This post has been edited by frostitute: Feb 21 2005, 11:54 AM |
