Spaced and Shaun of the Dead had great soundtracks, and I was wondering which tunes other people would hope to see included in Hot Fuzz. Of course, much of this depends on what actually takes place in the film itself, but I think we've got a fair idea of the flavour from the trailers and what not. And if Mr. Wright should chance by this page during the post-production stage...who knows?
Eels - Souljacker (Part I) - as heard on the teasers, I'd like to see this appear somewhere in the film mid-shootout, as it is a corking track indeed. The Clash - I Fought The Law - obvious track I guess, but as a reinforcement of Pegg and Frost's police force badassery, it would be a classic inclusion. Polysics - Buggie Techinica - the Spaced soundtrack had its fair share of crazy alternative Japanese music which was absent from Shaun, so how's about this for a quick blast of techno-punk mayhem? Any other recommendations? This post has been edited by Kick in the Head: Nov 13 2006, 10:03 AM |

That day the trailers went live, this song turned up in my Launchcast a mere hour or so earlier. Spooky, mang! God, I love that album. (Electro-Shock Blues is just a hair better.) |

Good thought. I can see that being used at the end of the film...or even in other trailers and TV spots. |

I guess it would be too obvious of me to suggest something by the Police? Can't Stand Losing You perhaps? Maybe one that's heard as background noise on the radio.
As I'm forever telling everyone else to listen to UNKLE I would also suggest their Badly Frawn Boy collaboration Nursery Rhyme. Very rocky, very good, possibly a good chasing-after-a-suspicious-character track... |

From my question to Mr. Pegg at peggster.net:
QUOTE The Spaced and Shaun of the Dead soundtracks were fan-dabbi-dozie, so what can we expect from the Hot Fuzz soundtrack?
The Hot Fuzz soundtrack is going to be awesome! David Arnold, who is an amazing composer, fresh from Casino Royale is doing the score and as for other music, expect Brit Rock, both classic and contemporary and also a very special something from The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. |

Someone over at Join the Fuzz posted the soundtrack listing can be found here at HMV's site. Looks like a good'un indeed, and I'm glad the Eels track is on there. Of course, some absolute classics, nice contemporary picks and a few cool little extras (Robert Rodriguez? Lethal Weapon 3 Trailer Music?).

Robert Rodriguez specially composed contribution is AVENGING ANGEL. Jon Spencer's track is HERE COME THE FUZZ. By Jon Spencer And The Elegant Too. (The fact that my favourite band has done an awesome, awesome title track makes my year) Osymyso has done a cracking remix of John Alexander's LETHAL WEAPON trailer music, called LETHAL FUZZ. David Arnold opens the album with the mighty THEME FROM HOT FUZZ and closing with THE HOT FUZZ SUITE, a 23 minute epic. Plus the FRATELLIS have done a storming cover of SOLID GOLD EASY ACTION. Osymyso has again produced the soundtrack and so there are slick mix and dialogue snatches throughout. I'm mighty proud of it - and I dearly hope you dig the hell of it too. Now that Edgar's clarified the soundtrack listing, I'm even more excited! 23-minute epic suite and Osymyso remixes - naysh! And I love Robert Rodriguez' music for his own films, so an original composition for Hot Fuzz will be a treat indeed.
Plus, I'm looking forward to the extra bits of score and dialogue snatches. Usually, when soundtracks stick excerpts from the film in, it's really annoying, but I think it worked brilliantly with the Shaun of the Dead CD, encouraging you to listen to the soundtrack as a whole work in itself rather than just a simple compilation. Plus it helped that the Shaun of the Dead dialogue was fantabulous. |

At the Glasgow HMV signing they gave us a limited edition album cover sleeve... just a crafty way to make me buy it... and they've won.
The Fratelli's Baby Fratelli is a classy little tune. Although mostly I'm looking forward to playing the Hot Fuzz Theme in my car and pretending I'm cool. |
