Having a quick look through the box office sections on IMDB, by my reckoning HF took £31millionish at the Box Office in the UK and US (not to mention 170,000euros in Holland!). Anyone know how much the production costs were? Maybe it is on the DVD that I had better be getting for my birthday tomorrow - I have had it in my hands a dozen times almost buying it, watching it and taking back the birthday one, or maybe someone with IMDB Pro can get the info. For me it does not seem to bad a haul in terms of takings.

As we learnt on Sunday, all of the money went to Mr Bean's Holiday.

It made $5.8 million in its opening weekend from only 825 theaters. Hot Fuzz also had the highest per-theater average of any film in the top ten that week.
In other words, it would have been #1 if it had been released to a wider audience in the states. The second weekend they bumped the theater count to 1,272. Presumably after they realized how awesome it was. |
