Opus Dei want it given an "Adult" rating
Anyone else excited about seeing this, or am I being a sad twat? |

I haven't read the book, so I don't care about that, but the trailer looked okay - decently shot at least.

QUOTE children should be protected from what it calls "insidious" lies about Catholicism. Spokesman Marc Carroggio said: "Any adult can distinguish reality from fiction. But you cannot expect a child to make proper judgements." I've sat here for about five minutes trying to think of the right paedophile priest joke to make based on these quotes, but I thought I'd cut out the pieces and let you put them together yourselves. I'm going to go straight to hell anyway so why put in the effort? |

I read the book last year sometime, and while I'm not champing at the bit to see the movie, I will go and see it.
I'm just not sure I like Tom Hanks in the main role! |

I wouldn't say 'excited', but I am interested in seeing it and judging how it compares to the book.

I refused to read the book purely because I didn't want to be seen joining the ranks of commuters clutching their copies. I don't know whether that makes me snobbish, stubborn or fickle. Probably a combination, and it will probably extend to the film, so don't expect to find me in the queue for it any time soon. I'll probably watch it on TV some day.

Opus Dei fucking love it, I saw them in a documentary the other day and the book has pretty much tripled their membership. The hold seminars where they explain who they are and how they relate to 'The Da Vinci Code' and they pack 'em in. They they recruit a percentage of these and they're laughing (possibly like this "mwah ha ha ha").
So far as the film goes, meh, the book's trash but that doesn't mean the film won't be good. Tom Hanks is one of the best actors currently working, Howard's pretty variable as far as quality goes, I'm not holding my breath for the next Indiana Jones. Still, after it comes out I suspect Dan Brown will be rich enough to buy the Holy Grail (if he isn't already). |
