Okay, kids, this is the big one...

We got the show. The ENTIRE last show of Simon & Nick on XFM Drivetime.

All three hours of it.

It'll go up for download in the next few days, after converting and tidying.

The last ever Drivetime which was broadcast on Friday 12 March 2004 from 5-8pm is now available for download as an MP3 file! While I was out at work, TheGimp started my machine streaming XFM from the super-hi connection (48kHz) straight onto my hard drive. Today, I edited this 1.79Gb WAV file, edited out all the music, news and adverts and saved it out as a 44.1kHz MP3 at 128kbps. Its now only 44.5Mb so shouldn't take long to download on broadband.

xfm_simonandnick-12030204.zip

Just right click and select "Save Target As..." from the menu to download and keep. If you're using a Mac, command-click and select "Save To Disk". Its a ZIP file which you'll need to extract using WinZip.

I had to boost the volume by 250% to make it loud enough as the stream was very quiet.

Thanks Yesideez and TheGimp. I just downloaded it and will listen later, glad ya'll did this cause I was only able to get about 2 1/2 hours of it since the stream stopped and I couldn't connect again at one point.

I still have the show before that (missing the first hour). But still am too stupid to figure out how to edit it.

Its not a case of being stupid, its a case of not having the knowledge.

The program you want is Sound Forge but its in the 3-figure price bracket. I don't know what else to suggest as I don't use anything else. Maybe someone else can suggest a program to split an audio file into segments and save out as MP3?

RichP: Yes, he does but its not that clear.

PS... I do have a copy of the entire recording. In MP3 its 161Mb. I've only got 100Mb of web space with blueyonder so if anyone wants a copy, PM me so we can arrange methods of transfer...

Thanks very much. I recorded the stream but when the bloody thing stopped working for ages I just gave up.
