Hello and welcome to Issue 7 of This Week on the Forum - the seventh issue of this almighty publication. Each week, we'll put up an issue of "This Week on the Forum" - your opportunity to publish, for the world to see, your spin on events on-forum in the last week. This week it's Big Boombatti Fatti's second turn, eager beaver that he is ( If you'd like to have a go, drop NickLee a line. This intro is obligatory, but the rest is Lee's own words: Friends, Romans, fellow Spaced forum members, lend me your ears. Well it's your eyes really, but hell work with me here! BBF here with this week on the forum and what a week it's been. Well... I hope it has because 3 days on the forum doesn't really work that well I think... Anyhow, the week started off as ever in the News section with Nick updating us all on the big ol' world of them who is famous, updating us all on the latest goings on with Spaced Series 3, Look Around You and Shawn of the Dead, to name a few. Meanwhile, the main Spaced forum is afire, with subjects ranging from asking is Spaced the best modern sitcom through to the fact that the Bluetones can be seen in the robot wars Spaced episode Mettle. Also not forgetting the rapidly growing list of Film References which acts as a handy guide for those of you not fortunate enough to own a DVD and watch season 2 with the Homage-o-meter. Over at the Future of Spaced board the poll still rages over Simon's hair and what precisely he should be doing with it beyond bleaching it so much that you could kill all known germs Dead Also within the future of Spaced, L33T N1NJ4's thread on Playstation stuff continues to grow as members all put their two pennyworth in on what games our Tim should be geeking out to in Spaced Series 3. And as ever the old forum stalwart Future Refs still consumes all who venture near it and drains them of opinions like an ideas vampire... *ahem* or something.... Still. Let's move on and pretend that metaphor was merely a figment of your imagination.... Ahh back in to the well grounded world of Members forum and we start this week with The Almighty Hoover's How old are you? poll producing some interesting results and from the looks of things the middle aged old farts are in the majority (myself included) soon we'll all be dropping our playstations and skateboards and off to bingo instead. Still this may not be the case for long as new blood continues to join the board and our very own master of diplomacy Flameboy greets our newest cult members * cough * I mean newest board members with the newly refreshed new members thread. Lord help us! And in one of those lovely 'getting to know you' threads that let's us all peak in to each others psyche, Girloverthere asks the question Signature, what's yours mean? Finally before we leave the lovely Members forum, I'll also direct you to cast your eyes over Unhappy and Happy Walk threads just cos they're like old friends now... Now as ever the slightly unpleasant world of The Gents must be looked in upon if only for completion and not many new threads have emerged over the past week with the notable exceptions of ZePhantoim's leap in to nostalgia land with his reminiscences over that toy with the most realistic of gripping hands Action Man check it out, you can almost hear the sobs of lost youth and innocence, and The Almighty Hoover demanding an answer to the unanswerable with the question on most men's minds as they ponder over The Unfathomable world of girls, what's up with their heads.... Elsewhere in The Gents, the old stalwarts of Footie season and Beer sit side by side with more emotional subjects of tears and size.... Still let's not delve to closely on that one eh? And let's move on to the girls' very own Powder Room. Boys avert your eyes some of these subjects are not for the likes of you! But as a hard working mod now I must brave this area to report on the goings on within.*tut* the things I do for you So, what is going within eh? Well the maternal instinct is alive and well as the thread What would you name your child can testify to. But before kids can appear surely you need to get a snog! and that's what Kirst008 is asking, surely though kids are not on the horizon yet, but still sex seems to be one of the ongoing themes within the forum (or am I looking too hard for it) with The M Word also being discussed. Though quite why meringue is a taboo I have no idea. So hurriedly I move on, its all that talk of kids that did for me guvnor! Ahhh but here we are home turf, the Media section and this week it's been pretty damn busy in here, what with the launch of CNX *plug plug* the news of Harry Knowles and his run in with a certain George Lucas' legal team. Not to mention a great discussion on Comedy sparked off by Smart Arsed Butler who has, it seems, wiped away the rose tinted glasses some of us have for comedy shows of old and fair play to her Also in a similar vein Flameboy started a discussion on DVD vs Video and while the new digital format is the way forward the discussion is interesting and not as cut and dried as one might suspect - check it out. There is plenty of other new threads over here in the Media section but at the speed this forum belts around by the time I write them all out they'd be out of date... But one final plug before we leave my own personal Hobbiton, don't forget to PM me your fave top five TV shows for the new poll thats going on.... dont vote you can't complain.... Now on to Music which has had a stormy old time of things in a few threads as battle lines are drawn in the sand in the turbulent thread of Bands You Hate and a general musical guerrilla warfare pitched battle over The Stereophonics ahh here in this forum no musical sacred cow goes unbeaten, which is appropriate considering that everyone is also united behind the general loathing of Q, Britain's biggest music mag. As with the Media section it seems the Music section is in a state of constant flux so get over there now and check it out because as Janis Joplin once sang "you don't know what you've got till its gone!" but obviously were not going to pave over this forum and stick up a parking lot.... Over in Serious, the subjects get straight to the point with no messing (unlike myself), and Nick kicks off a caffeine fuelled debate in Mmmmm.....Coffee and while you're sipping your favourite cup o' joe, you can debate the moral grey area of File sharing right or wrong have your say! And wrong doing is also discussed here as Corbal asks about attitudes to ex partners in the thread Cheat, Cheat, Cheat, Cheat. On slightly less emotionally flammable ground advice is still required on purchasing electrical goods so if you want to know if it's worth buying that 8 Track cassette player for £600, you best get over there and ask! So at last we hit the Isle of Silly and within the forum walls Chesticles gets fruity with poetry while everything from hypothetical backstage demands to Funny Quotes and Five great things roll around the boards silly psyche. Not to mention Flameboy's fear thread and he continues on by asking the slightly personal question of What meat product are you? though why this would mean a lot to the child of fire is anyones guess.... Best not ask.... Well if you've read this far well done! Give yourself a pat on the back and then give yourself a slap in the face because you should be contributing to this lovely board of ours add to it nurture it go on go! Fly my friend be free!....oh god my blood/caffeine ratio has dropped below safe limits go run save yourselves.....!!!! Till the next time! I am BBF this has been a week on the forum..... |

QUOTE (BBF @ Mon, 14 Oct. 2002, 21:43) Not to mention Flameboy's fear thread and he continues on by asking the slightly personal question of What meat product are you? though why this would mean a lot to the child of fire is anyones guess.... Best not ask.... Maybe I fear meat. Or maybe it is all just my innate enigmaticity... BTW - if anyone else would like to have a go at crackin' one of these off (by next Monday, so plenty of time to work yourself up), then drop one of the mods a line... Chesticles, I'm looking at you, with your boredom.... |

Nice write up BBF. I think I'll pop over and bump my Action Man thread with something silly I just discovered.
