I don't know. On a site dedicated to the work of the makers of Hot Fuzz surely you can let it slde? A community such as ours needs people who are really, really obsessed with the subject matter and who thinks that everything produced by its makers is really, really good. It helps to keep the atmosphere hopeful....

Good point, well made.

I'm just a wee cynic and no better than I should be.

If anything, hyperbolic nonsense such as this will put me off seeing a film.

I was actually going to supplement the sentence, "...if anyone says different, they're lying!" with the words, '...or a miserable bastard!' but chose not to lest it be offensive to miserable bastards.

Rather wish I'd kept it in now.

Yes, 'cause yours does sparkle so . . . blink.gif

Personally, I doubt it will be the best film I've ever seen, but other people are entitled to their opinions.

If you don't like those opinions simply saying you don't agree once you have actually seen the material in question would be fair enough, there is absolutely no need to make things personal.

as for "the best film ever" scenario

shaun of the dead - liked it at first but when i got it on dvd was when i loved it

at the signing Simon did say to see it again when i can as i'll see new things, so ill take the bossmans word and i'll see it... like i need an excuse to biggrin.gif
getting free films will ensure i see this a good few times as well as "screen check" to see when at work, that the film is showing right wink.gif

things like SOTD are more appealing to me when i know the films lines, and all the little bits, and as you watch spaced, SOTD and Hot Fuzz more you see the links within the lot.
and i love crossing back to the other program/film

they way the films are acted and directed is great, the soundtrack makes it a million times better to me, such as on shaun of the dead when shaun is brushing his teeth and making his tea how its all "wooosh"

Caught an advance screening on Monday, I love it to bits buuuut I still prefer SotD by a margin...

That's subject to change however, since Hot Fuzz is obviously being rewatched to death. 'That' death scene > all other death scenes, ever. biggrin.gif

Also, casting Timothy Dalton as a heavily tasched supermarket villain was an astoundingly brilliant decision.

Such a pointless & passive agressive comment. There's always one miserable person who has to rain on everyone's parade. huh.gif We are all dedicated fans who like to express our excitement, so just back off & let us. ph34r.gif

Feel the love (those of you who are dedicated fans).

Once again, I apologise for expressing an opinion.

I do so hate upsetting the children.

Ya know, there are some intelligent posters, but not enough to hold my interest, and this pack mentality to defend an obsessive freak is frankly disturbing.

I'm off.

Play nicely kids.

Luvmusic it's not about you having an opinion, you have to admit there was an unnecessary element of venom within your first statement.

Everyone else luvmusic is entitled to have an opinion.

Play nicely.

Luvmusic it's not about you having an opinion. . .

That is exactly the point.

I over-reacted in my post above, and for that I apologise, but the gist of what I said after the first sentence still remains.

I don't have a problem with people expressing their opinions as long as they aren't taking side-ways swipes at others whilst doing so.

Now if we can all play nicely, back to Hot Fuzz . . .
