When I was a kid I went to the US with my Dad and people kept asking if we were from New Zealand.
When I went to the US as an adult (if I am one) people kept asking if we were English. The question is - has my accent changed? Or the perecption of the average American? In Japan when we said we were from Australia the response was "Oh! Ian Thorpe!" In America we got "Crocodile Dundee country!"

 I just like to have a neutral accent for much of the time - the local accent from where I hail is just GHASTLY! In the "Family & Friends" featurette on Hot Fuzz, we have our neutral accents on, if I remember correctly. Kev W |
