The AVClub's Top 50 albums of the decade. Not comprehensive, by any means, but there's some very good ones on there and it is the most even-handed of these sorts of lists I've come across so far.

I've a tentative Top 20 now. I'm certain that at least 13 of the ones of the list will be on my final one but the remainder are subject to change once I've listened to a bunch of other possible candidates. The current list is a strong one, though.

I don't know who the Decemberists are.
I'm surprised about how indiefied my top 20 is, considering I've spent most of the last ten years listening to drum & bass and electronica. I think bands must be better at creating a more rounded album whereas dance acts seem to just have a collection of individual tracks lumped together. |
