I could have read it on teh webs, I can't remember now. I'm never really sure of what's happening when I watch anymore. I'm sure watching Lost is a bit like having alzheimer's.

I think you're right on the money Ellie. Though my reaction was more Jacob and Esau than Cain and Abel. Yes. Over on Television Without Pity, they were calling Titus Welliver's character Esau because they didn't give him a proper name. Heh. Although I guess he has one, Samuel or something... I don't remember them stating it in the episode though. I too think Ellie is right on the money. This post has been edited by thirtyhelens: May 25 2009, 07:34 PM |

I thought they said 5 was going to be the last season. It's making less sense than Twin Peaks. At least Lynch knew when to end a show. I'm only watching it still to get a sense of closure. God damn it Lost get to the bloody point! The island is Atlantis or Thebes or whatever. Ben is Edeopis. Lock is the terminator sent back in time to prolong a franchise. Jack is still in Thailand whacked off his tits on acid at a full moon party and the producer needs more money to buy his daughter a condo in Malibu.

I'm loving it, confident they know what they doing and not wishing the mysteries away. Once everything's been explained it'll be over, so I'm happy for them to take their sweet time.
I have heard a few people disappointed that the end of series 5 was such a cliffhanger (in a series one mould), but I think it's a very fitting way to go into the final series. |

confident they know what they doing and not wishing the mysteries away. That's been one of the major pluses for me, too. As frustrating as some folk hve found it, I've enjoyed the slow-burn appeal of the series pretty much from the get go, so I'm in no hurry to know all the answers. |

I've no complaints. Well, the acting, writing and direction could be better but that's no biggy.

i have very few complaints about 'lost'...
regarding jacob / other bloke theories... i was chatting to someone about the philip k dick book 'valis' QUOTE (wikipedia) In the TV series Lost, the beginning scene in the season 4 episode entitled "Eggtown" depicts John Locke delivering this book to Benjamin Linus while he is being held prisoner by the survivors in the barracks. Benjamin tells Locke that he has already read the book, to which Locke replies, "... read it again, you might catch something you missed the first time around." Two episodes later the prisoner is seen reading the book and there is a brief close-up where the cover of the book fills the screen. there's a paragraph which talks about love and hate, being two gods... and there's mention of how hate taking on the forms of the dead... and how, if hate kills love, then everything is pretty much fucked... i'll see if i can persuade him to email me the paragraph, but it seems to give a pretty strong suggestion about the way things are heading... |

Cool
God has also set the one over against the other; the good against the evil, and the evil against the good; the good proceeds from the good, and the evil from the evil; the good purifies the bad, and the bad the good; the good is preserved for the good, and the evil for the bad ones... This means that good will make evil into what evil does not wish to be; but evil will not be able to make good into what good does not wish to be. Evil serves good, despite its cunning. |

Seems more like Ubik. Maybe they died in the explosion and the regression to the seventies is a symptom of their brain functions deteriorating in half life.

Maybe they come up with something original, unlikely as that is.
