This is on Channel 4 right now. They're only in the 80's at the moment so i thought i'd give people the chance to predict what is gonna place highly.
I'm hoping some radiohead videos are up there and i'm betting Just will be the highest (or only if they're limiting it to one video per artist). |

This is my opinion on the Top 10!!!
1 - Michael Jackson: Thriller This goes without saying. It is, IMHO, the greatest video ever and I don't think it will ever be topped. 2 - Peter Gabriel: Sledgehammer I have no problem with this in the top 10, although I dunno if I would place it second. I think there have been better. 3 - A-ha: Take on Me This is exactly where it should be. Third best video of all time and definitely one of the most original. 4 - Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody I love the song, but I really don't consider it Top 10 material. I think Radio GaGa, I'm Going Slightly Mad or I Want to Break Free as better videos! 5 - Madonna: Like a Prayer Hmmmm.... tough one... Great video, but Top 10?!? 6 - Robbie Williams: Rock DJ Never seen it... 7 - Michael Jackson: Billie Jean Yup... no problem there... 8 - The Verve: Bittersweet Symphony I HATE THIS VIDEO... Everyone raves about it. All I see is a pretentious wanker shoving people out of his way... Fuck this video! 9 - Madonna: Vogue Absolutely not, but then again, I hate the song! 10 - Nirvana: Smells Like Teen Spirit Erm... Possibly... AND WHERE THE HELL IS DURAN DURAN - WILD BOYS?!? |

IMHO
1 - Michael Jackson: Thriller Very dated. Was good in its day, but so many have surpassed it since 2 - Peter Gabriel: Sledgehammer Has to be admired for the amount of work and invention involved 3 - A-ha: Take on Me Still pretty impressive now 4 - Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody Hate the song and can't see what is so special about the video 5 - Madonna: Like a Prayer I like it but not a top ten 6 - Robbie Williams: Rock DJ Graet video. 7 - Michael Jackson: Billie Jean Crap when it first came out, Crap still. 8 - The Verve: Bittersweet Symphony Not as good as Massive Attack, but I still like it 9 - Madonna: Vogue Looks good 10 - Nirvana: Smells Like Teen Spirit It's OK..probably a case of where the song was voted for more than the video Where was Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy Radiohead - Street Spirit UNKLE - Rabbit In The Headlights Pulp - Do You Remember The First Time (totally ripped off by U2 on "Even Better Than The Real Thing") Daft Punk - Da Funk |

I say that you have to consider who they ask... That's going to influence the choice. I remember a few years back when NME said that The Smiths were more influencial than The Beatles, The Stones and David Bowie...

I remember a few years back when NME said that The Smiths were more influencial than The Beatles, The Stones and David Bowie... Usually Channel 4 post about 125 or so nominations and the public vote online for 10 from that list. The NME list was voted by the readership I believe. Which sort of makes sense why The Smiths won...fewer people to whom Bowie, Beatles etc mean something to read the NME than those that grew up listening to The Smiths. More influential than Beatles or Bowie (or Sex Pistols even) I'm not sure, but deserving of a high place in the list, definitely |

Top 10 maybe, but (IMHO) the Top 3 artists of all time should be The Beatles, The Stones and David Bowie.

QUOTE (Svein @ Feb 7 2005, 01:58 PM) Top 10 maybe, but (IMHO) the Top 3 artists of all time should be The Beatles, The Stones and David Bowie. Bowie def, Beatles...can't deny what they achieved, Stones...regurgitated old blues songs and have gone on 30 years too long. But then that's only my opinion. I personally would put Sex Pistols instead of Stones. Anyway...I think this was covered in another thread, so I'll stop babbling. |
