Another Poll! You know you love it.

Whilst Ade attends to all your aural pleasures, I will soon be looking for your nominations in The Spaced Out Ultimate Film of the Noughties Poll!

As with the albums poll, I will be asking for your top twenty films released in the UK during the years 2000-2009.

Please get your thinking caps on and decide what are your 20 favourite films of the decade.

Your votes will not be requested until the beginning of January giving you plenty of time to seriously consider your choices and whatever consequences they may lead to.

Your Top 20's should be listed as a 20 - favourite film at "1" down to 20. Please, no joint positions.

Only films with a UK theatrical release between 1 Jan 2000 and 31st of December 2009 are eligible. If unsure of the release date search for the film on imdb.co.uk and check "release dates" under Other Info. And please, no re-releases.

You can also vote for any film that received a cinema release abroad but premiered on DVD in the UK, provided it was produced between the dates above.

Finally, please vote for the single worst film you endured in the last decade.

Please do not post your votes in this thread - send them to me via a PM.

I've been thinking about this, and whether or not there would be one on here, for a couple of days now and I'd like to broach a subject that may not be popular but he goes:

What do people think about handicapping Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz for the purposes of this poll?

I don't ask this because I don't like those films or anything, but the very nature of this forum means that they will have a certain bias in their favour that could skew the results when the votes are counted. I'm just playing devil's advocate here and don't want anyone to get too worked up about this suggestion, I just wanted to get it out there to see what people think.

Anyway, I've thought of three or four films that would definitely be in my Top 10, not much beyond those, though.

Only if we can veto any films directed by anyone with the surname "Anderson". wink.gif

Personally I see no problem with allowing the two films to remain.

Personally I see no problem with allowing the two films to remain. We didn't veto Spaced in the TV Comedy poll and it didn't win.

Oh no, that would mean that Death Race would be ineligible!

I wasn't suggesting that the films be vetoed or banned, just that perhaps they could have their votes weighed differently, but I'm not really fussed either way, it's more of a question that I was pondering when thinking about a poll such as this and whether or not such a distinction should be made and wondered what others thought about it. I myself have no problem voting for them, though I imagine that they'll probably be pushed out of my Top 20 when I really get down to refining my choices.

Well Hot Fuzz only reached 22 in the Comedy Poll and Shaun 4.

I'd like to think if people vote for those films, it's based on merit.

I'm sure they will be voted on merit too, I was just raising the question.

Anyway, another question:

What's the ruling on Lord of the Rings? Do we count them as a single film or as three separate films? My gut reaction would be to count them as a single entity since, although it is broken up into a trilogy, they were filmed as a single project and released yearly and could be considered a single work rather than a trilogy in the sense that Star Wars or The Matrix.

The ruling of Sostie is seperate films. Released (and awarded) seperately, therefore seperate films. Ditto Mesrine. No Channel 4 type laziness here.

A fair ruling, and I've no problem deciding which I'll be voting for (it's the one with "Two" in the title).

What about Grindhouse. ...That'll be somewhere in my top 20, but some people may vote for either of the films it's made up of. ohmy.gif

Grindhouse had a couple of rare showings in the UK cinema. And both Death Proof and Planet Terror had a wider release. All three are valid

Initial post amended to include DVD premieres, and vote for worst film of the decade.

(Sadly this still won't allow me to vote for definite Top 20 inclusion My Sassy Girl.)
