I still think Alan Wake looks a bit shit.

I don't know what to make of it myself. Have there even been any gameplay videos yet?

On the subject of Silent Hill, can anyone advise if Silent Hill:Homecoming is worth playing? It's quite cheap now I've noticed. |

You wouldn't be missing much to be honest. It's ok and really tries to be a good SH game but just falls short in so many ways.
It isn't creepy or tense enough, the main character is too good at fighting so things don't feel nearly as scary or threatening, there are too many moments where it turns into a 3rd person action shooter and all tension is lost. There are a few moments where the anxiety crept up, but that was mostly thanks to the fact Akira Yamaoja was doing the music. And the transitions to the otherworld are nice. How cheap is cheap? |

AppArently 21st May...I thought it was April 30th :/. Boo! There's already display boxes in Game and stuff, along with Splinter Cell: Conviction. Thought it'd be much sooner. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Wii/PSP is much better. Alan Wake interests me for the story/setting more than the grabbed by the ghoulies stle enemies. |

I made a youth club on The Sims 2 and it's so nice that I want it to exist in real life (just with a better roof because I haven't got the hang of them yet).

Probably a better candidate for your money to be honest. And that pains me to say as I love Silent Hill and dislike Fable...

Some more nice Red dead Redemption screenshots: Good grief that looks lovely. I'm very much looking forward to closing my curtains to the actual sunshine outside and basking in the warm glow of the fake Mexican sun. After a couple of sessions on Just Cause 2 I was ready to stick it up on eBay and leave it at that. It was just too huge, too laborious to get around the map and too repetitive. However, boy am I glad I persevered with it. After the first three missions which are all identical to each other and are therefore the worst introduction to the game and once you get to grips with the scale of things and more importantly the grapple and parachute combination, this is a LOT of fun. In fact, I wish every game had the physics defying grappling hook in it as it adds an amazing dimension to it. During the first couple of hours I kept on dying and couldn't get to grips with the controls but now I'm using the grappling hook to pull people towards me, shooting them in the air, flying around on my parachute dropping grenades on people, and the size of some of the explosions and building collapses are amazing. I just crashed a 4 engined military aircraft into another one on the runway and just managed to parachute out at the last minute to witness the explosion from the air. Yes, it can be frustrating at times and there has been more than one ocassion where I've tried to grapple on to something in mid air, missed the mark and fallen to my death or parachuted out of a helicopter only to have it land on top of me, but I've learned to forgive it for these annoyances because it's so much fun. |

Is EarthBound as great as everyone says?
I decided that seeing as how I'm going to be poor all through summer, I'm going to play older games that I can get for free/already own and never played to completion. Then today I saw an article on Digg about games and it mentioned EarthBound, and it made me remember that I'd been wanting to try it for forever. So I downloaded it. The same article also mentioned Super Metroid, Zelda: Link to the Past, and Final Fantasy VI, all of which I also own and have never really played. Which is a bit odd, considering I love the 16-bit era so much. |
