According to Empire magazine:

http://www.empireonline.com/50greatesttv/default.asp?tv=10

...personally I'd rate it a bit higher.

I'd say that's a pretty good list; possibly Spaced could have gone a bit higher but it is a cult gem, particularly in the States.

Since there is absolutely nothing good on television right now, I've been watching a lot of Spaced and other stuff I've downloaded, etc. The show is just SO good.

I suppose 10 seems just about right considering the other shows in the top 10 which are all formidable (I personally would have made West Wing No. 1, but that's just me) ... so, I would say this is an incredible honor, and well deserved.

McG will may hay out of it, but that's a topic for another thread.

ETA: It ranked better than Seinfeld. That's really saying something.

ETA, part 2: Monty Python should have been MUCH higher than 39. And I don't think CSI or Alias or Farscape should have made the list at all ... and Band of Brothers, while BRILLIANT, was a mini-series.

There were a lot of GREAT shows that predated the 80s that should have been on that list if we're talking "of all time."

I reckon they just had a vote around the Empire offices to come up with their running order.

Truly, we are living in the golden age of television, if nearly every show made in the past 10 years is on the list.

Frasier only rates a 34?

And where the hell is M*A*S*H? They've got room for Veronica Mars, but not that??

Or All in the Family, or Your Show of Shows, or Carol Burnett?

It shares all the same problems as other lists (voted for by the general public, not based on expert opinion, tends towards recent shows, what is best anyway - groundbreaking, entertaining, important?). Any decade has good and bad stuff - one of many reasons people say the 60s or 70s had the best music/films/etc. is that all the dross and dreck has been forgotten.

As long as Curb's represented somewhere, I'm happy.
