Well, it's that time of year again.
What have been your top 10 films of the year? What have been your worst disappointments? What are you looking forward to in the forthcoming year? Are you waiting until December 31st to contribute to this thread? Share with us and argue. |

I don't know if I watched enough current movies this year to give you a Top 10, but I will say that I loved The Dark Knight and was thoroughly disappointed (almost heartbroken) by Indy 4 and The X-Files 2.

I've only seen two 2008 films, so my list reads:
1. Iron Man 2. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull I may be able to add to that list by the end of the year! |

I've seen a lot of films I wanted to see this year but I don't rate them all. My favourites were:
Wall-E, Juno, Cloverfield, Tropic Thunder and Iron Man. I'm so mainstream. |

My film viewing has really taken a hit over the last couple of years, mainly due to two or three annoying visits to the cinema where I had the misfortune to be sat near complete arseholes who should really have gone to the pub for a chat rather than the cinema.
I still enjoy going to the cinema and the spectacle of seeing a film on the big screen, but I now prefer watching films in the comfort of my own home - sadly, going by the above list, I don't seem to be able to get around to doing a lot of that! |

1) There will be Blood
2) The Dark Knight 3) In Bruges 4) Cloverfield 5) Lars and the Real Girl 6) Son of Rambow 7) The Mist 8) Iron Man 9) Tropic Thunder 10) The Diving Bell and the Butterfly Honorable Mentions: Sweeney Todd, 27 Dresses, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Be Kind Rewind I was pretty indifferent to No Country for Old Men and Juno , some were just OK (Indy IV) and others were completely bizarre (Doomsday). I'm really looking forward to 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' The non 2008 release I enjoyed most this year was definitely Once, which, in contrast to its title, I've seen at least 6 times this year. After we've got a decent shortlist going (based on the most frequently mentioned 2008 UK releases), I'll get our annual poll going. |

I'd like to mention that Redbelt only makes my top ten by default, it's an extremely flawed film but I like it. I really hope The Wrestler knocks it out.

Isn't Lars & the Real Girl from 2007?
In no particular order: In Bruges Lust, Caution Man on Wire The Dark Knight Cloverfield Wall-E There Will Be Blood Iron Man Tropic Thunder Quantum of Solace Some non-2008 releases I enjoyed are Lars & the Real Girl, The Nines, and Persepolis. edit: Actually, it looks like TWBB was 2007 too.
