Dr Garrett had Dan Harmon's voice. Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but there seemed to be a couple of moments in the episode that suggested that they were inserting references to Dan Harmon into the episode. Apart from Garrett's voice, the final scene in which Chang asked for the kids in his army to pitch ideas to him, then received a drink from a girl called Megan (like Megan Ganz) made it seem like they were getting weirdly meta, even for the show itself. Kind of fit in with the moments when the characters started pointing out flaws in the premise of the show. Anyway, having re-watched the episode, my favourite individual jokes were probably: "Welcome to...ladders." "Good new guys, I spent all my money!" "I'm parked by a meter! Are y'all parked by a meter. Wait, WHAT?" The abrupt cuts they used as Abed starts to really lose his shit over daylight savings time and when Troy smashes his hand into the table. "I'm a fake psychiatrist, not a fake ethnographer." Basically, pretty much every line in the episode. Can't wait for the finale next week (or last three episodes airing in one go, whatever) if only for Giancarlo Esposito. This post has been edited by maian: May 11 2012, 08:53 PM |

Am I alone in wanting to see an episode revolving around how the death of Starburns affected the other study group with Owen Wilson and Jack Black in?

That'd be awesome. They could be really angry at the way in which the Study Group seemed to co-opt Starburns' death for their own ends and to start a riot.

The asylum bits were fantastic, and the finish of 'I want to see what happens if I take away one of their pens...' got big laughs from me.

The Dean raving was a real highlight.
I stayed up to stream all three episodes online as they aired, with some 30 Rock sandwiched in the middle, and it was pretty great, if exhausting. I thought that the episodes started strong and got stronger as they went along. I really loved the execution and style of the video game one, particularly the fact that Troy just kept pointlessly jumping around all the time, which is pretty much my experience of platformers, but I thought that the penultimate one mastered its heist tropes more and the final episode had a great emotional underpinning to it. The entire final five minutes or so seemed like they could have easily worked as a series finale. |

Is it wrong to be in love with a fictional character? Considering my current intense love for Josh Lyman, I'm going with 'no'. The entire final five minutes or so seemed like they could have easily worked as a series finale. I suspect that was the point. Three really lovely episodes of television, there. |

Also, Starburns Lives!
I was kind of disappointed by their use of John Goodman. He was good throughout the season, but I kind of hoped that their sparing use of him was setting something up for the finale, only for to have, at most, three scenes in two episodes. It seemed like they could have done a lot more with him. |

Part of me wants Chevy Chase to leave, just because then they could do the 4th season entirely in the darkest timeline where Pierce is dead.
