The third. Ah, good - if sad - stuff! That's probably the roughest one*, so you're good from here on in. *Though the fourth has the most shocking, it's not necessarily as tough as the third. The end of series 5 is pretty shocking as well, but nowhere near as bad, or sad as one of the things that happens in series seven because of real life happenings . . . It is a great series though, Julie and you have to watch it all because it is just so good. And you have 20 Hours in America to watch next which is great fun! |

I do love it. Apart from Season 5, which I think struggled to overcome the loss of Sorkin whilst also trying to replicate him, I think it's a pretty flawless run (and even then, Season 5 is hardly bad, just not quite on a par with the Sorkin years or the campaign seasons. Though I do take issue with the direction they took Toby over time.)

Anyone watching season 2 of Braquo? I'm 2 episodes in and it's left off where it ended. Really gripping stuff, but blimey it's gone really dark already!

The Panorama episode the other night about football violence in the Ukraine was truly fucking terrifying. I wouldn't wipe my arse with that place. The international exchange programme when I was an undergrad actually stopped sending female students to the Ukraine because of the nightmare level of sexual assaults and rapes and gang-rapes. They still sent people to Colombia and Serbia so gives it you an idea of how severe it must have been for them to stop. Even Russians think the Ukraine is a toilet.
Poland was pretty grim too and I know that varies from place to place as visitors in the cities can experience immense friendliness. White visitors i mean. The towns outside of major cities are even more backwards than the BNP dregs we get here . My good friends from Israel said that they saw casual anti-semitism everywhere in Poland. Germany, in contrast, has been pretty good about moving on and addressing the past and making things safe. Poland does the opposite because they often were invaded by the aggressors and can pass the buck when needed. And yet weirdly - people claimed the slurs weren't against Jews per se because they just used the words even though they lost meaning. Jews just meant 'people who lost' or something. Fucked up. ^ Agreed, it made me sad and angry. And that interview with the chief of police:
"Oh, they totes weren't sieg heiling! They were pointing. At the opposing team. Yeah!" The treatment of the Indian exchange students was horrific. And why do they keep setting fire to the stands? |

That was so AWFUL it became like a comedy sketch. I think the Ukrainian authorities will be seriously out of their depth. And supporting Hitler? Really? He wasn't actually big on Ukrainians overall. Didn't he basically enslave your entire population at one point? They had to wear those little blue squares. Selective memory there. QUOTE And why do they keep setting fire to the stands? Because they are fucking macho morons with nothing better to do and probably raging substance abuse problems. I have heard meth is big over there. They have the space for it. |

Sometimes I think I won't have children because I wouldn't be a good mother... but then I watch Toddlers and Tiaras and realise that at least I wouldn't be a shit mother. This programme makes me violently angry.
Snapshot: 4 year old girl, a right little madam who had temper tantrums all the time and spoke to her mother like crap, wearing a wig, more make-up than I would ever wear, and skimpy little clothes... demanding (and getting) a dummy. I can't even. |

Jesus. I swear that sometimes people should have to take a test before they're allowed to breed.

HBO series 'Girls' has gotten steadily better as it's gone on. Last night it guest starred Chris O'Dowd sporting a very good Murrcan accent, although I'm sure actual Americans won't think so.

Britain in a Day
A good idea, but after 45 minutes this is starting to drag a bit. Oh, and Britain is full of nutcases. |
