QUOTE (madfish @ Jan 27 2005, 09:01 PM) actually, ppl moan about bob swearing so much, but go back and watch the very first episode and bobs first line is "fuck fuck fuckety fuckety fuck fuck". Don't get me wrong, I like swearing. It's big, hard, cool and clever and imaginative swearing can only increase one's vocabulary. But when it replaces plot, dialogue, character development and genuine humour, I get a little bit tired of it. |

I saw an advert for the Series 4 DVD in metro yesterday describing Series 4 as "a fitting close to an anarchic comedy drama" (or similar). Is Series 4 the end then?
And couldn't they have done that a series earlier? |

QUOTE (kateykinz @ Oct 4 2005, 12:20 PM) Yes to both your questions. The series died with Kurt and Brian and no amount of sexy new actors that couldn't act could help revive it I know! It sounds like I'm clutching at straws, but Kurt and Brian were the life blood of that show. When I saw that they had been killed off in the opening minutes I was a little dismayed. I know it's only a TV show but if you're going to enjoy a show you have to invest something in the characters emotionally, otherwise it's like watching a series of listless events played out by people you aren't arsed about. When you make us care about those characters and then kill them off with no explanation of how or why, and worst of all, do it off screen and treat it like a minor event you cheat the viewer out of the time they have devoted to the show. It made me think "why care about any of the new characters when they could just vanish at any point with little or no explanation" and I quickly lost interest in the show and stopped watching a few weeks later. It was one thing when Susan (my personal favourite), Jenny and JP mysteriously went, but Kurt and Brian??? That was badly miscalculated. |
