No, but I know someone who was a researcher on one of these "100 Greatest" things, and they told me that hardly any of the celebs knew what the hell they were banging on about.
Hence you get them saying things like: "Yeah, and then <insert name here> did this! And then they did that! And then they said this!" In other words, explaining the clip you`ve already seen, because that`s been their only experience of it. |

Very true, although in most cases they will have experienced some aspects of what they are talking about. The clips are just a refresh. |

Really ? well in those '100 Greatest..' and 'I love..' things, it totally gives the illusion that they have a particular interest in the subject matter. I realised they were on there for exposure and nothing else, but also assumed they at least were chosen to talk abotu a specific clip because they genuinally did remember the film/tv show/person/era/product/whatever and were influenced by it...is that just totally not the case ? Well that just makes it even stranger that Jess was on that last night, why of all those pundit driven <..insert witty barb here..>shows did she appear on that one ? I had always assumed her and Simon were 'above' doing them just as Paul Ross is not above appearing on every single one (surprised he wan't on last night actually !) but why porn ? why not the 100 Greatest Films (more something I would have imagined she'd have contributed to) or whatever ! Bizarre... |

I think it`s got more to do with programme makers seeing who`s the flavour of the month and asking them to do it. I distinctly remember Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais doing "100 Greatest Kids TV" and "100 Greatest TV Characters".
It`s ALL about exposure, nothing else. |

QUOTE (Starscream`s Ghost @ Mar 14 2005, 04:40 PM) Absolutely. It's all the same faces in these shows and they're almost always D-list stand-ups who are waiting for their big break. The 100 Greatest Cartoons one was quite good because at least they interviewed a few people who were actually involved in making the animations. |

Jo Caulfield, Adam Bloom, Simon Bligh, Marcus Brigstocke, that goon from the Friday Night Project, and for some reason, Simon Donald always pops up on these things. And has anyone noticed Tony Livesey (Editor of the Sport) has been on lots of these things at the moment? I`m not being funny, but I wouldn`t consider the man who invented the "Nipple Count" to be qualified as a social or media commentator. |

Yep definitely, but is Jess really 'flavour of the month' ? would have thought that would have been during Spaced but maybe it was to do with putting her face out there for 'According to Bex' ? Even then, it's just such a random thing for her to appear on....a load of film critics, ex-porno stars, Peter Stringfellow, some ex-presenter from RI:SE (and it took me 20 minutes to realise where I recognised her from )...and Jess. You got me !? |

Given that he runs a national newspaper (well, it's kind of a newspaper. It just has a very 'special' definition of news) I'd say he's more qualified to discuss social issues than that loud twatty West Country comedian who thinks he can MAKE A POINT JUST BY SHOUTING. |

As much as it galls me to say it, yeah, I really like Tony, he often makes a lot of sense, and is very likeable. And I believe by the other, you mean that beardy twat who thinks he`s a DJ? Because yes, HE`S VERY ANNOYING. |

As part of C4's banned season there was a history of porn vids from the naked breast from the full on sex. Jess knows a lot about porn she must of watched loads.

Maybe the bit in Spaced where Tim says he watches porn in the flat and Daisy says "can i borrow some" was actually quite close to the truth.
