24 has a lot to answer for. That first season spawned the recent glut of single-concept TV shows which are easy ways of spinning out whole series, meaning quantity not quality. See Invasion, Lost, Flashforward. Individual episodes can be rather poor so long as people are 'addicted' to the show, watching week after week to get the answers. |

I could never watch more than five minutes of 24, it always looked so stupid.

I watched it before it was poached off the BBC by Sky.
What I saw was good, but as Adam said it tends to rely more on the format than being an engaging story in its own right. Having said that, however, I didn't view Invasion as a concept program in the same way as Lost or Flash Forward, it's hook was a straight forward, old fashioned, alien invasion story, in the same mould as Dark Skies and Roswell before it. |

I'm not sure I'd lump 24 and Lost together. 24 seems like more of an evolution of the standard procedural drama with the novel twist that it takes place in real-time. Lost owes much more to Buffy (in its season-long story arcs) and The X-Files (in its well-developed mythology). 24 certainly made it easier for people to pitch those kind of shows, but I'd say that Lost is part of a much older trend in American television. |

I'm right near the end of Day 4 of 24 at the moment. It's one of the most box-set friendly shows ever. I'm glad they've decided to end it, it means I've got a finite target for my future viewing.

24 should have ended after day 3 to be honest (maybe day 4) as all the series since then have been awful. However, this series so far has been a return to form with relentless action scenes and not a single lull episode as far as I can remember. I still stand by the fact that it's Eastenders with torture and (more) explosions

I just hope Agent Pierce shows up one more time. He's been in every season except this one.

24 should have ended after day 3 to be honest (maybe day 4) as all the series since then have been awful. See, I rate Season 5 as being better than both 3 and 4 put together. This is mostly due to the great guest actors that they had that season and the driving focus of the storyline. Plus Charles Logan is a brilliant character. I will miss 24, but it's nice to know that they can finally focus on making the long delayed film. I hope they do decide to set it in London, that would be quality. |

That's worried me slightly. Even though I've only seen the first episode and have no idea where it is going, I was only reading yesterday David Simon saying they were only planning on making one series. |
